I was satisfied with my stay at the Hotel Steigenberger, but I doubt I would stay again. I've stayed at nicer, more comfortable hotels for the price (booked mid-week, low season for around US$100). My single room was typical of what I've experienced in other German hotels: certainly smaller than a double-occupancy room, 1 pillow, 1 set of towels. The bed was slightly smaller than an American double. The shower had shower gel/shampoo attached to a dispenser on the wall, which I dislike but know from other Steigenberger hotels. I'd guess most travelers are German (the TV had exclusively German channels and there were only German newspapers). In all, the Steigenberger is a reasonable, centrally located mid-range hotel with limited services.
- Restaurant Tip : A quick walk across the bridge to the Sachsenhausen district takes you to a wide variety of restaurants (including Indian, Thai, and Irish) that aren't as touristy as things in the center. There's a large grocery store, which is open late, too, across the bridge.
