The staff at the reception all spoke very good English and were helpful and friendly.
As it was very cold outside, the rooms were well heated.
You could open the windows.
Breakfast had a wide array of food to choose from.
chocolate santas were put on the breakfast on St. Nikolaus Day which was a nice touch.
The proximity to the metro and to the city centre was fantastic.
A supermarket was a 5 minute walk from the hotel which was great for all the little bits and pieces you needed.
The lifts worked spasmodically!
The rooms were very small and there was no comfortable chair to sit in.
There was only one channel in English on the TV and it was very fuzzy so not really viewable.
The rooms were very hot and you had to open the window!
Room service were knocking on your door at 8.10am to clean the room - I was supposed to be on holiday and entitled to a lie in!
All in all, this hotel served my purposes very well. It was clean and reasonably comfortable. The rooms are very small and there is little room to store things. Each room had a telephone which was useful. The breakfast was nice and there were lots of things to choose from. It also went quite late - until 11am. However, with housekeeping wanting in your room to clean as early as 8.10am there was little chance to getting down to breakfast that late!
The hotel was very well located for public transport into the city centre and it was only one metro stop away. This was very handy. It is about a half hour trip from the airport in a taxi and this costs around 20 Euros.
There are a lot of little eating places nearby which were a lot cheaper than eating in the hotel.
The reception staff spoke good English and were helpful and friendly. This was appreciated when I couldn't speak very much German.
The reception area of the hotel had a very friendly feel to it and this is also where you could access free internet if you had a lap top. You just had to ask for the code from reception.
I would stay here again if I returned to Hamburg, especially if I wanted to be close to the city and public transport.
