Location, some friendly staff, location
A booking for a single room with river view was made in January 2015. On 29 May 2015 I was given a little dark & with iron bars behind the windows. The view was a wall of the inner court where the staff smoked & sounds of exhausts could be heard. The room was small, dark and stuffy. The van & aircon didn't work, the telephone was useless as it crackled and no conversation could be conducted as I could not hear a thing, the tv, a very old model, didn't work properly nor did the little fridge. The blowdryer I was given on loan by the reception was hardly working. All in all room-wise the hotel was a big disappointment; this was a room for a late walk-in and not for a person who had a confirmed booking already in January. The hotel or you as booking agency could have informed me whether my request for a view could be granted or not. As I have seen another single room (with street view)in that hotel the price I paid was absolutely not justified.

over priced location is the only plus
if compared to other and actually much better hotels Matyas is way over priced. check out apartments instead at a much better value with similarly good location. the rooms are quite dull
Would not pay for it again but rather stay at an apartment....suggest you do the same....Matyas is way over priced there are much better offers at this location.

matyas hotel
location, proximity to the event I was attending, room size
Rooms are cheap if you buy well in advance, otherwise it costs more than a 4/5 star....which is strange. Rooms were clean, service acceptable.

a perfect stay
location, breakfasts, friendliness of staff
The hotel location is excellent. It is in the middle of the city in beautiful surrounding with the Danube river nearby. It is within a very easy reach to Metro line 3 and several bus stops. The hotel is located in an imposing old building, with rooms refurbished and an excellent restaurant attached where the breakfasts are served as well. Our room was clean and comfortable with all necessary things provided, the breakfasts excellent, the staff is very helpful and friendly. Ours was a very pleasant stay and we are waiting to go back again.

A nice hotel in a beautiful historic building
Location, great breakfast, quaint building
This hotel is a quiet, clean, and comfortable place in about the best area in Budapest. Our window overlooked the Elizabeth Bridge and Danube River and we had a beautiful view of Buda Castle. The hotel is within walking distance to many tourist favorites, including Elizabeth Bridge (just outside the front door), the Victory Bridge, and even the Chain Bridge, many great restaurants, cafes, and pedestrian-only streets and quaint alleyways. It is very easy to get to from the train station, only about a 10-minute bus ride and the bus stops only a block from the hotel. The building is old and very historical looking, but the rooms were clean and modernized. My favorite part was the restaurant where breakfast was served. It was like going 600 years back in time, with the stained-glass windows, carved stone statues on the walls and stone floors. So interesting! Breakfast is great here, by the way. The staff were so-so and did not bend over backward to help us with anything, but that did not detract from the experience of staying here. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

It was good.
Clean room, Spacious room, Near station
This hotel is near Bacci street which is famous tourist area. It took only 10 min from the train station by bus so it was really easy to access to the hotel from the station. It is easy to find. Hotel staffs are really kind and they keep the room clean everyday. The room was very big so I really liked it. However, there is no elevator in this hotel.

Stay away... horrible room condition
The room we got was horrible. There is no air conditioning in the room, and the window is right next to an office door where people come and go, and people come out for cigarettes all day and talk loudly outside all the time, and play the radio even! As there's no air con in the room, we have to open the windows, and that means we're subject to all sorts of noise and smoke. We spoke to the hotel management about room change and they said they are fully booked and our booking doesn't allow us to get a refund.
