It was the most memorable stay. We had a room on the first floor overlooking Gellert Hill. It's like hotels meant to be. Can't praise it enough. Food is good, service is excellent, you get a free entry to one of the most beautiful bath in the world and a fantastic breakfast.

In the end my stay was until 2013/02/07 (today) and it was absolutely super.
Breakfast was Buffet well spaced, nicly displayed and with perfect tableservice for everything else needed.
All working within this Hotel - Lobby, Restaurant, Bar, Roomcleaning were super effective and super gentle and nice and friendly.
I did really feel as home as I do within my family.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
The different bridges over the river Duna within the City connecting Buda and Pest are each wunderfully illuminated at night and each is different from the other. It is really worth it to take a look at in the evening from elevated ground - i.e. the 'Var' - and drink in the view and the display of the lights on the different bridges.

Room small, Bathroom extremly small very low Toilet, Furniture all shabby and show wear and tear, Hot Water come out dark brown and smelly could not use it being scared of catching a disease. Claiming to be 4 Star the Room was maximum 2 Star or less.

My visit to Budapest was the end of a four week tour of Cyprus, Italy, Croatia and Hungary.
I stayed at the Danubius Hotel as a bit of a reward (it was the most expensive accommodation during my trip) after spending four weeks at home stays, B & B's, small privately owned hotels, etc..........I wish I hadn't.
The hotel its self was okay, but Budapest was the most horrible place I have ever visited (I've travelled to over 45 countries). The locals were emotionally stunted and obviously did not like tourists. I met some nice Hungarians, but they were few and far between. By far the nicest people were the other tourists. Budapest is a very sad city. All I felt was pity for them.
Go and visit and see for yourself. I will never go back. Do yourself a favour and spend your tourist dollar elsewhere. Croatia was FANTASTIC!!
Restaurant Tip:
Be prepared for unfriendly and unhelpful service. It wasn't uncommon for staff to overcharge me, not return with my change after paying the bill and refusing to explain the menu which was written in Hungarian. If you stay in the tourist areas you will have no problem with some of these issues (still check the bill and your change), but if you visit local restaurants, like I did, be prepared.

Wonderful stay. But will never book again via Internett because the reception argued that we had no guarantee of view to the river even if we had chosen that option when booking. We vere lucky to get both balcony and view to the river, according to our booking, but our friends were not, despite their spesific booking. Next time in Budapest we book another hotel in advance.
