Superb hotel - great stay in Tokaj

The Andrassy Rezidencia Wine & Spa Hotel in Tarcal is an excellent 5-star hotel in the heart of the wine region Tokaj. Once an old mansion of an hungarian count the house has been lovely restored and furnished. Staff is great and helpful, and especially the Spa facilities were excellent. We can also recommend their vine menue to the fullest.

A relaxing friendly hotel

we were two couples staying two nights to explore the tokaj region and sample the local wines.
the rooms were clean, spacious and well-appointed, and passed the "number of plug sockets" test that is the mark of quality of any hotel. the views from the hotel rooms were unexceptional, which was a shame given how picturesque the region is, but hardly a major matter.
the leisure facilities were really good: a lovely pool, a weird but good cave jacuzzi area and some odd but fun "adventure showers".
the food was ok without being amazing and the wine was a bit hit and miss. set against that, the staff were about as helpful as in any hotel i've ever been in, and very friendly. if there hadn't been an unfortunate mix-up about a restaurant booking they would have got the full 5/5 for staff performance. most visitors would get a 5/5 staff performance, i expect.
i really enjoyed my stay and would definitely stay there again. i'd probably eat out more though.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Get the hotel to arrange wine-tasting at Dobogó Pince. The wine there is truly sensational.
