This former convent near the railway station is now a refined and intimate small hotel with beautifully decorated interiors. Around the corner from Santa Maria Novella train station and a block from the San Lorenzo Markets, the Machiavelli Palace Hotel occupies a 300-year-old building, now fully restored with some original features intact. Room d�cor is Renaissance-inspired with distressed furniture and rich draperies, while oversized balconies showcase beautiful vistas of the Duomo and the Florentine fondness for terracotta tiling. It�s a ten-minute walk to the Duomo from here, a further ten minutes to the Ponte Vecchio and the Uffizi Gallery, while closer to home guests will find everything they need within a few blocks, from bars to bookstores to bicycle hire.

This was an inexpensive hotel, the sheets were clean and the bed was firm.
This is a big hotel, the staff are run off their feet.
This is a budget choice. The Hotel will service your needs. The cost on our deal was cheaper than some back packers. Understanding this its a good place to base yourself for a few days in Florence. Its close to the train station and is surrounded by budget dinning offers. Staff were happy to try help meet your needs.
Shopping Tip : If you arrive in Florence in morning and think you have found a small market to sell you a "what ever" and a good price. WAIT after 5 the number of stalls increases by 10 and the price will halve.
