Mediterraneo Hotel Florence Info
This hotel just outside the main tourist zone offers US-sized rooms and city views. A ten-minute walk from the historic center of town, the Grand Hotel Mediterraneo offers an international standard of comfort and modernity. Rooms are large, especially for an old city like Florence, and bathrooms are equipped with proper showers, some over full tubs. For those opting not to walk along the Arno into town, buses are readily available at the door and an automated cab calling service means guests don�t have to leave the hotel or pick up the phone to get a cab. By virtue of the hotel�s position just outside the center, the surrounding area is quiet and relaxed with a number of good value restaurants and shopping centers within a few minutes� walk.

big hotel, 1.5 kms away from center of Florence,
not great selection for breakfast, 1.5 kms away from center of Florence
The hotel was not very close to the center, but this is good for parking purposes. The breakfast could benefit from greater selection of savoury choices. It is a big hotel so expect big crowds in peak seasons.

The hotel is 12 minutes walk from the Church of Santa Croce. Room "Standard" are comfortable. I liked the very comfortable mattress and the bed very large. The buffet breakfast is probably improvable. There are two vending machines for hot drinks. The food is varied enough but of low quality. The brochures in the rooms offered the chance to have lunch or dinner at any hour average prices high. The garage was closed the service to 20. Then to access the car is necessary to involve the front desk to send someone to open ... it is not very comfortable.
