we stayed for 1 night in december 2012. the hotel is conveniently located to visit the vatican museum by foot, which is relevant if you want to get there early before the line gets ridiculous (leave before 730am). rooms are spacious for europe but a little old. bed is not great but manageable. breakfast was very good vs expectations.

the hotel is a little old and the rooms show it. they put us in a room that's on the 8th floor but the elevator only runs to the 7th. you have to walk one floor up. it was really hot up there as it seems the air conditioning from the hotel rises and accumulates in the last floors. we had to open the windows a couple of times which was not an easy task. the breakfast is good enough and was included. staff were attentive and helpful when they could not find our reservation through agoda. price was ok because it's rome but would have been robbed if it was not.

A 3min walk from hotel will being you to a busy shopping street for the locals. Central Rome is pretty small and all major monuments can be accessed by foot from the hotel. Cicerone is a modern hotel which has the basic amenities and facilities.

Bathroom had a strong smell of smoke - presumably a smokers refuge from the smoke detectors - a difficult problem for the hotel in a country of intense smokers but irritating all the same.
Buffet breakfast rather average.

Piacere Molise Via Candia 60, Rome
Stumbled across this one by accident towards the Vatican. Superb fettucine with cepes, amazing meat ravioli with truffle sauce and roast suckling pig to die for. Meal for 2 came to 50 euros with a bottle of good house wine- about half of what I paid in many other italian restaurants and the best meal in a fortnight!

we had a pleasant stay. the hotel staff was helpful and friendly. we even agreed to take a transfer to the airport as they organised everything efficiently. as its in a central location even though its old it is a good hotel if you are not looking for luxury.
