Very basic, clean and handy location
Location, location location
6.3
The hotel was very handy to termini, directly across th street, and was very clean. The single room was very basic and the bed was not comfortable. There also seemed to be a multitude of minor maintenance issues. My room had a shared bathroom and the shower kept falling out of its stand, just needed a screw to fix it. The toilet seat was also not stable. Wifi did not work in my room so had to go into hall.
Having said all that, the staff were all very nice and it could not have been more convenient.

Good budget hotel
good location, low budget
7
I paid for a single with private bathroom without breakfast, which is low cost for Rome.
The hotel is next to Termini train station so very convenient for taking train, metro or bus to anywhere in the city. It is just opposite the Terravision downtown shuttle bus stop (to/from the airports).
On arrival I was directed to Hotel Tokyo 2, which is just around the corner. The room was freshly renovated and clean (daily housekeeping and clean towels). It is in a old building, typical for the area around Termini, with one of those charming old elavators.
The room has tv, airco, small safe and free wifi.
Only thing to keep it mind is that the hotel is small scaled, so no professional 24 hours reception. The caretaker speaks only a little bit English, so be a little bit patient. You will get your own key so you have 24 hour access to your room. If your check in is late, just e-mail your arrival time by mail so they can arrange someone to show you the room.
If you only want a room to sleep, this hotel is perfect. If your looking for something more romantic, there are better (less cheap) options elsewehere.
I will stay here again.

The room was excellent, in a good place
In the centre of Rome, beautiful rooms
8.7
I really loved that I'm just need to walk few metres from Termini and I found my hotel room. The staff was kind when I checked in, I riceived a coupon for the breakfasts. The room was really big and well-equipped (TV,dvd, mirrors, chairs, airconditioner). I was also liked the breakfast in the nearest bar, it was a typical italian breakfast, the coffee was excellent there. If you need something on the other side of the street there is a cheap supermarket, and you can reach every place from Termini station in Rome.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
If you are in Rome you must see the other side of the city: Trastevere. I ate a pizza there, and I was just walking there, it has a very good atmosphere.

Right in the centre of town!

Nice hotel, single room with shared bathroom, the room was functional at least had a sink in the room to wash face/brush teeth, shared bathroom was well maintained.
There was no room service , i stayed 5 nights and not one day was the linen changed or room cleaned, that was unsettling.
Good WiFi and connectivity in the room I was in.
Hotel Staff were nice though they could barely speak English they made an effort to answer all questions and queries. Breakfast left much to be desired only a cup of tea/coffee with croissant, served at a bar/cafe two doors down from the hotel.
The bar cafe staff were exceptionally rude and arrogant customer service
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Very central in Rome, easy to explore.

Disappointing Hotel
The air con worked and it was very close to the Rome rail terminal
4
One of three hotel rooms in a converted apartment in another building nearby. Reception cramped and on the 4th floor. Creaky tiny elevators in both buildings. The bathroom drains were overpoweringly stinky and the smell went everywhere. Missing lightbulb, wonky shower door and towel rail and limited toilet paper with no spare roll. One channel, in Italian, on the small TV. Window did not close. Bed and pillow quite comfortable. No phone in the room, fridge (when we finally found it) not turned on. No wifi despite advertising that there was.
Owner didn't communicate well, just gestured or spoke only Italian and left us both guessing as well as attending to his daughter for quite a few minutes in the middle our arrival (no 'do you mind' and just left us a bit open mouthed. They did store my suitcase after checking out until it was time to go to the airport which I was grateful for.

A bit noisy in the late evening and morning when people start coming back or going out banging their doors.

Hotel Tokyo is literally steps away from the Roma Termini. The old-fashioned elevator takes you to the hotel on the 4th floor. The small hotel is not 24-hr staffed. On my arrival, I had to wait for a hotel staff to open the door for 10 mins but after that I didn't have more problem because they gave me my own keys. My single room was old, but with that price and location I wouldn't complain.
Restaurant Tip:
My hotel room didn't have a fridge. There is a big supermarket on the basement of the Termini where you could get bottled water, fruits, breakfast and other ready to eat food at a comfortable price. Termini also has a number of fast food cafes.
