This hotel, located opposite the central railway station in the heart of Amsterdam, and decorated in a nostalgic train theme, offers excellent value for money. The central railway station is connected to the metro, tram and bus lines and the airport is only a 15 minute train ride away. The A-train hotel in Amsterdam has comfortable, individually shaped and furnished rooms with clean bathrooms, nice views and cable TV. Wireless internet access is available throughout the hotel. The restaurant in the style of a Pullman lounge serves an excellent Dutch breakfast and the vibrant area around the hotel is full of lively cafés, restaurants, theaters and shops.

Charmingly themed hotel and very good value
Centrally located, comfortable room, good breakfasts and friendly staff

despite being almost opposite amsterdam centraal station our room was at the back of the hotel and was very quiet with little street noise even with the windows open. the beds were comfortable and the room size adequate for a couple who didn't want to spend a lot of time in it. the clean, spaceous bathroom was more like a wetroom with an excellent shower. the buffet style breakfast was in the traditionally dutch hotel style, but with additional options e.g. for cereals and unlimited tea/coffee, (albeit from a machine). the breakfast area was very cosy with small compartments following the train theme of the whole of the ground floor. the staff were friendly and helpful. we would certainly certainly again.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Amsterdam itself is a brilliant city to walk around. The Hortus Bontanicus is well worth a visit. Making time to use the excellent and not too expensive rail network to visit other parts of the Netherlands is also very rewarding.
