We were there for a pre-river cruise Amsterdam sightseeing tour. Hotel was great for that purpose; easy access to all kinds of transportation-buses, trams, canal taxi, train, etc.
Prices are reasonable and the URBAN side of the hotel is quiet and modern. Not sure about the other wing. A real lay-back atmosphere except for the frantic bikers...don't ever walk or stay in the bike lane, a friend of ours got zapped caused he didn't get out of the way fast enough. Almost all the "exotic" sights are within 10 minutes walking. Amsterdam's definition of a coffe shop vs a cafe must be experienced to understand.
