A nice hotel in a super location
Large, high standard rooms in a hotel in the very heart of Amsterdam

I was very pleased with my stay at the Park Plaza Victoria Hotel in Amsterdam. On the outside, it says Victoria Hotel only, so when I entered I wanted to make sure I had arrived at the right hotel. The staff was nice and friendly and the room was of high standard with a large double bed, a desk + chair and an arm chair with a table. It was clean and of high standard. I did not utilize the opportunity to have breakfast at the hotel, but the restaurant looked attractive. The location is the best possible, at the main street "Damrak", only a 5-minute-long walk from the Central Railway Station, which you reach from the Schiphol Airport by train in about 15 minutes. At the Damrak, you have lots and lots of stores and restaurants.It takes only 10-15 minutes to walk to the Red Light District, if you are curious...
Restaurant Tip:
I am happy to recommend the South American restaurant "Los Toros" only a few steps away on the Damrak. The staff is very friendly, the food is delicious and the prices are decent. No fancy place but nice!

When a hotel is as good as the Park Plaza Victoria, you can't say very much apart from:
beautiful, stylish, great location, helpful, professional concierges, friendly, professional reception desk.
Your family and friends are envious and you hate having to go.
The points that could be improved are minor: we would have liked to have some more light in the suite, especially for packing suitcases. There were not enough wall sockets for chargers of laptops, i-pads, electrical shavers, Nikon batteries and mobile phones. So we had to unplug the standing lamp and consequently had even less light.
So bring an extension wire with several sockets. Maybe a good idea no matter where you go.
There is a Nespresso machine in the room. Very fine, but not enough capsules. We tried to buy capsules in the Bijenkorf department store but they only had capsules for home use and our machine was a commercial one.
Finally asked the concierge and 5 minutes later we had enough capsules to battle any kind of caffeine withdrawal. The coffee is free, btw.
The location is great for sightseeing and shopping, not necessarily in that order. You can walk everything: to the starting oint of the harbour roundtrip, Dam, Leidseplein, Rembrandtsplein and take a tram (nº 16) to the musea.
Apart from that: Victoria, we surely miss you.
Hotel Feature Tip:
When travelling with lots of chargers, bring an extension cord with 4 sockets.
Breakfast is optional and at 19 euro p/p ratyher pricey. So, around the corner is the Nieuwendijk and a McDonalds where you can have a perfect egg muffin and good coffee for a fraction of that 38 euro.
Then, when walking to the Leidseplein, check out the Americain for a nice lunch. Classy, good food, great service, normal prices.

very near to centraal station (directly opposite) and lots of shops and food around the hotel. staff were friendly. though we put up "do not disturb" sign, the room service staff still called to check if we needed any room service. however, the room that we stayed seems to have a broken air-condition. the room was warm though we have tuned down the temperature to 5 degrees. called the room service and they provided a fan. the mattress was too thin for us and we could feel the mattress spring underneath, and the pillow were too soft though we had used 2 pillows. we had backache every night.

It is an ideal location and the Hotel is apposite from the station only 5 minutes walk. You are next to the Buses and Trams for visiting places. The canal cruises are also across from the Hotel.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
The night time canal cruise is worth doing. If it is a couple together you can book the meal and drinks cruise which is a nice change
