Hotel Description

Several converted 19th century houses make up this classic hotel located very close to Vondelpark and other scenic locations. The 38 guestrooms at the Sandton Hotel de Filosoof are individually decorated with philosophical themes and have names such as Wittgenstein, Confucius and Thoreau. The old city center is very close to the hotel and guests may reach the area on foot. There are also several public transportation stops available for exploring other areas of the city. The library is a great place to spend a relaxing day inside while the bar and lounge make for splendid entertainment and leisure for guests.

Fine hotel with friendly service

Good location close to center of Amsterdam, friendly helpful staff, large bathroom with bath tub

We had three mights at Hotel de Filosoof. A nice spacious room, good bed, clean room and bathroom, no noise from other rooms, good well equipped breakfast buffet in a bright room. We could walk to the center of Amsterdam or take the tram, whichever we preferred. The Neighborhood is quite and you fell quite safe and well walking the streets at night. We one night found a Thai restaurant quite close by and had a fine tasty and cheap meal there. A hotel to be recommended.
