Hotel Continental collaborates with the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters, and it has named one of the corner suites 'The Abel Suite' after the Norwegian mathematician Niels Henrik Abel. In connection with an annual prize for outstanding work in the field of mathematics, which is awarded by King Harald V, the prize-winner always stays in this suite. This is why Continental is regarded as the official Abel hotel.

Directions :
From Oslo Lufthavn Gardermoen:
Follow E6 towards Oslo for approximately 40 minutes. Drive through the Vålerenga tunnel and the Ekeberg tunnel. Follow E6 until you reach the Oslo tunnel. Exit the tunnel at the first right inside the tunnel towards “Oslo Sentrum Vest”. Turn right at the first traffic light, and drive down Dronning Mauds gate until you reach a roundabout. Turn left up Haakon VII's gate and then take the second right to Munkedamsveien. When you reach the traffic lights, turn right again. You are now on Stortingsgaten. Follow Stortingsgaten for about 100 metres, and you will see Hotel Continental on your right.
From Sweden:
Follow E6 towards Oslo, crossing the border between Sweden and Norway at Svinesund. After about 75 min. you will drive through the Nordby tunnel. After the tunnel you will see the amusement spark “Tusenfryd” on your left. Keep to the main road, and this will become E18 towards Oslo. In a while you will see the coast on your left, and E18 takes you into the Oslo tunnel. Exit the tunnel at the first right inside the tunnel towards “Oslo Sentrum Vest”. Turn right at the first traffic light, and drive down Dronning Mauds gate until you reach a roundabout. Turn left at Haakon VII's gate and then take the second right to Munkedamsveien. When you reach the traffic lights, turn right again. You are now on Stortingsgaten. Follow Stortingsgaten for about 100 metres, and you will see Hotel Continental on your right.
