Between the fjord and central station, this is an attractive and beautifully-maintained hotel popular both with business travelers and the tourist set. With views over the water and the ultra modern Opera building, the Thon Hotel Opera is within a two-minute walk of the train station and therefore a stop away from the airport and handy to the tram and bus networks that link the entire city. Interiors are luxe and comfortable with modern European design and contemporary paintings on the walls, plus kettle, charged wifi and for those on the right side of the building, dazzling water views. A cab rank at the door negates the need to even use the train and tram network, if that�s an issue, and from here walking is also an obvious option, with the harbor and city center around ten minutes away on foot.

Hotel well situated next to the central train station, which worked well for us with late evening arrival and early departure. Staff helpful and friendly. Beds were very comfortable. Room smaller than average american hotels, but still adequate space. Close to sights for touring, particularly the Opera House, which should not be missed.

Great location if going to the Opera House in Oslo. Room was very comfortable
Breakfast buffet is slow to replenish basic items like bacon and eggs. The worst coffee served I have ever tasted - undrinkable!!
We booked the Hotel as we were going to the Opera House that evening and found the location excellent. A covered bridge allows you to walk across the main road to the Opera House main entrance in just a few minutes. Staff were very helpful, room was modern and clean and we would definitely return there next time. Our only negative comment would be the coffee served at breakfast - must have been stewed a month ago at least!

-Fantastic location to explore Oslo.
-Excellent breakfast with a wide variety of food on the Smorgasboard.
-Clean and comfortable bedroom.
-The hotel itself is a bit bland in communal areas.
-Staff a little indifferent when attempting to pre-book a taxi.
-Rooms a touch on the small side.
-The double bed was actually two single beds pushed together.
The location of this hotel is perfect. Next to the central rail station, opposite the Opera House and just along from the main shopping area. It's perfectly situated as a base to walk around the City and explore.
The breakfast was comprehensive and offered a full yummy continental meal, including many meats and fish.
The rooms were neat and tidy plus the decor was quite plush. However, the rooms were on the small side but perfectly adequate for a weekend break.
