The Ambassador Hotel is a monument to 19th century Russian architecture that incorporates modern features such as a unique glass atrium designed into its façade. The famous Russian architect A. Very clean room, 4 stars amenities, swimming pool ... A bit far from the metro, a bit far from the center... You have to walk a lot in St Petersburg !
Service really awful, you wonder where's any luggage service, people ignore the possibility of greeting guests or helping you to bring your luggages to your room. Overall not rude but just ... unhelpful, which is not what you expect in a 4 stars hotel. We thought the hotel was closer of the center (nievsky prospect / ermitage), and although it must be nice in summer, it's quite a hassle to walk in the snow to the metro to get to any monument.
The service was not very friendly, but it looks like it's a standard in russia. You'd expect someone to greet you when you arrive at the hotel, you'd expect a "hello how can I help you" (not from accross the hall, but when you're standing at the counter).
The room was really nice, quite big and very comfortable. Overall not bad value for money, but a bit far from the real center (although sanova ploshad is a nice place with some animation), and you'd probably enjoy it most in summer or if you are familiar with russian.
We didn't test the food, since breakfast was quite expensive.

Beautiful interior, good cuisine, attentive staff The smell of the air-conditioning system The hotel lived 3 days, at this time held a wedding with relatives in the banquet hall of the Ambassador. This is clearly not a limousine service, and travel to t chenie 5 minutes to the Promenade des Anglais cost me 600 rubles. In general, liked the hotel, in the case have not refused to stay there again.
