This luxurious hotel was built within what was once the Piedras Albas palace, a castle built originally in the 16th century.
Strolling through the gardens that surround the hotel you can observe the ruins that once were also a part of the castle, they have been preserved for posterity and lend a unique historical perspective to the ambience of the hotel. The decor of the hotel is complimentary to the historic nature of the grounds, for example the ancient granite floor of the old castle has been preserved just as it once was.Enjoy the atmosphere along with luxurious amenities such as the delicious traditional fare available at the restaurant.

The hotel was in a great location and had very pretty interior and grounds.
The front desk staff were very impatient and unfriendly. The rooms were bare minimum-nothing impressive or very comfortable. Smoking is allowed throughout which was uncomfortable.
The Paradors throughout Spain are very unique. Although Avila is a lovely place, this Parador is not very well maintained and staff are not very friendly. The food was decent, but below expectations. The comfort level of the rooms was significantly below expectations. The front desk staff were not very helpful or welcoming. Although it is a convenient location, I would not recommend this to friends or family members.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Get a map of the area from a local vendor. The map provided by the hotel was terrible and we wound up wandering lost multiple times.
