The hotel was OK but the breakfast - if you can call it that was very very poor - even the coffee machine broke down. Jam for the toast - jars were empty. However, the staff were great and helpful.

Great location but bad check out experience

Nothing was wrong with the Atlas hotel. It was more comfortable and in a better location than any other hotels we stayed in during our trip to Spain. We stayed at three different hotels in Barcelona.
The bad experience we had was with the staff person that checked us out. We had a 7:30am flight to Granada so we checked out at 5:45am. We were going to find a taxi off La Rambla but the guy at the counter said it will be very hard to find a taxi at that time. He said he will call a taxi for us and it'll be here in 2 minutes. After 5 minutes passed, we said we prefer to walk to a taxi station. He said it's very far away. When the taxi driver finally ran up, he said he couldn't drive up to the hotel because the street was blocked. We said we could walk out but before we did, the taxi driver spoke to the reception guy in Spanish and they were exchanging money. We found that odd but just wanted to get to the airport. When we finally got there the taxi guy added $15 euros to the cab fare and said that's the fee when you call for taxi service. We knew that wasn't the case because we did taxi research before getting to Spain. We gave the driver the fair price and ran into the airport. Luckily we had all our bags with us up in front or else he would have had our bags hostage. This really ruined of view of this hotel. The next hotel we stayed at in Barcelona we asked if they had a taxi call fee and the receptionist said that they did not.

Great location but small rooms and horrible bed

1. We got to the hotel and we got double bed but very small room!
2. I asked to change the room to larger room and I was told that larger room has a twin bed only. After giving it a second thought I agreed to take the larger room. I got it one day after arrival.
3. Good location but a little bit noisy.
4. Omar, which is the receptionist during the day is very kind and he helped us a lot! The receptionist during the evening and night was very unpleasant.
5. Breakfast is very basic.

hotel is situated very centrally just off las ramblas and within easy reach of the main drag. the room i had was quite small with no view. actually the room only had a samll window which backed on to a central concrete void. however this did not bother me - when i go away i am out of the room most of the time so dont really care. the room had all amenities you could require though and was very clean. air con worked well.
staff on main desk i think were indian - really helpful.
would i stay in this hotel again and recommend - yes definitely at the price i paid ~ £48
Travel tip:
Do the open air city bus tours - 3 routes on one ticket hop on hop off. Try and go early to avoid the crowds

We booked this hotel at the last minute as we decided to stay another night in Barcelona. We chose this hotel based on location and price. The rooms were small and dated but the ensuite had a bath and great shower. Clean and pratical though with a safe and wadrobe and a good all you can eat continental breakfast included. If you don't like noise then this is not the place for you. We liked the sound coming from the street and the church bells ringing and even kept our window open so we could enjoy the atmosphere. The wifi worked well later in the evening and the staff were very helpful and friendly, even asking what time we needed to bs at thd airport and booking us a cab.
Restaurant Tip:
There is a travel bar just around the corner run by an Irish man. They do great coffee, reasonably priced breakfasts, tours, free internet, a bar and Spanish cooking classes at nights. Check them out :)

Worst hotel with terrible service and rooms!

We payed for our stay at Hotel Atlas but checked in late so the manager Ivan gave away our room! Completely ridciulous and unacceptable. We were so upset and the hotel did nothing to compensate. They just said they had to make money.
