The Hotel Advance blends traditional Catalonian architecture, with cutting-edge, interior design to create a sophisticated atmosphere, in the center of Barcelona's commercial district. Rooms and suites are spacious and well-appointed, featuring all the modern amenities expected from a four-star hotel, including plasma televisions and wireless internet connection. The sites of the city are all easily reached, with a short walk bringing visitors to Las Ramblas, and the Gothic Quarter. For excursions further afield, the nearest Metro is nearby, linking the entire city and surrounding areas. While in Barcelona, there are many things that should not be missed, leading those, is of course, the Picasso Museum, where the world's biggest collection of artworks by the renowned Pablo Picasso are on display. The museum is easily reached from the hotel, just ask the reception staff for directions.
City Tax
For all guest bookings with period of stay from November 1st 2012 onwards, a city tax must be paid directly to the hotel during check out for a maximum of 7 consecutive nights.
5* Hotel: A city tax of 2.25 Euros + VAT per person per night in Barcelona and Catalonia;
4* Hotel: A city tax of 1.10 Euros + VAT per person per night in Barcelona (0.90 Euros + VAT in Catalonia);
Rest of Hotels & Apartments: A city tax of 0.65 Euros + VAT per person, per night in Barcelona (0.45 Euros + VAT in Catalonia).

Small but nice rooms

I was surprised at how small the room was, and the fridge was hidden at the bottom corner of the wardrobe.
The shower was lovely though, and the staff helpful after that first tried to put us in separate (twin) beds even though our booking explicitly said we had one queen bed.

There is a great selection of rooftop bars near Diagonal metro
