Hotel Description

Opened in 2007, this stylish and modern hotel is located just a few minutes from Las Ramblas and close to the Catalunya Square. The Ciutat Vella Hotel in Barcelona is within close walking distance of the Gothic and Raval districts, MACBA and CCCB museums, Boqueria Market, and also right in the middle of Barcelona’s vibrant nightlife. The bus and metro lines are also a few hundred meters from the hotel. The hotel has 40 large rooms decorated in modern European style and featuring complimentary wireless Internet access. The hotel also features a rooftop terrace, Jacuzzi and solarium where spectacular city views can be enjoyed.

City Tax

For all guest bookings with period of stay from November 1st 2012 onwards, a city tax must be paid directly to the hotel during check out for a maximum of 7 consecutive nights.

5* Hotel: A city tax of 2.25 Euros + VAT per person per night in Barcelona and Catalonia;
4* Hotel: A city tax of 1.10 Euros + VAT per person per night in Barcelona (0.90 Euros + VAT in Catalonia);
Rest of Hotels & Apartments: A city tax of 0.65 Euros + VAT per person, per night in Barcelona (0.45 Euros + VAT in Catalonia).

Solo travelers United States of America, December 25, 2012	no fuss and convenient hotel for sight-seeing inexpensive, clean, comfortable and well located 6.7 The hotel room was small, clean, and sparsely furnished. While I would not want to spend much time in the room, aside from sleeping and grooming, it was conveniently located for touristing about town. I value comfortable beds and high pressure showers, this hotel did not dissappoint. I liked that the hotel lobby was stocked with water bottles, snacks, and coffee-on-demand for most of the day. I would not hesitate to stay again.

Groups United Kingdom, June 20, 2012	Great location and helpful staff Location; friendly, helpful staff; well priced 8.3 When staying in Barcelona you want to be close to Las Ramblas and the Gothic quarter without necasserily being right in it. This hotel is one street down Las Ramblas and about 300-400 metres along which is perfect. The staff were very helpful regarding how to find your way around and the hotel has plenty of tourism brochures. Free internet in the lobby helps for last minute planning too. Free water, tea and coffee 24 hours/day is a great add-on service. I have read previous posts regarding thin walls and therefore being noisy and I agree this can be an issue if you have a noisy neighbour, but we encountered no external noise as it is nearby but not right in the "action". Very enjoyable stay. Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: Do the Fat-tire bike tour. Pick it up at Playa de Jaume (easy to find. Its a great way to see the city in a relaxed way and meet fellow travellers at the same time.
Steven W. Families with older children United States of America, May 28, 2012	Hotel in a great location Hotel was right in the center of the old city - we walked everywhere. It was excellent fine for our purposes 8.7 The hotel is new and the rooms are furnished very simply - no refrigerator, no chest of drawers, but there was a safe we could use. Still, it served our purposes. The service was excellent. The roof terrace could use a table with umbrella and seating, as well as small tables between the lounge chairs. I would especially recommend Ciutat Viella to young travelers, as it is in the university area. Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: Make sure to take a Gaudi tour, and make sure it includes Park Guell and Casa Battlo. We fell in love with his work. Also, of course, make sure you get to the water. It is Barcelona, after all.

Getting to the hotel is simple. From the airport, you can take a taxi, or, if you prefer, take the Aerobus to Plaza Catalunya or Universitat stops. Alternatively, you can take the train to Sants station and from there, you will have to take another train and get off at Plaza Catalunya. The hotel is easily accessible by public transport. If you are traveling by underground, Plaza Catalunya (Lines 1 and 3) and Universitat (Lines 1 and 2) stops are nearby. If you are traveling by train, Plaza Catalunya (Lines 1, 3, 4 and 7) is the closest stop. If you are traveling by FCG, Plaza Catalunya (S1, S2, S5, S55, U6 and U7) is the closest stop. If you are traveling by bus, Lines 9, 14, 16, 17, 22, 24, 28, 41, 42, 47, 55, 58, 59, 62, 66, 67, 68, 91 stop at Universitat and Lines 14, 59, 91 stop at Las Ramblas, both of which are close to the hotel.
