Hotel Description

With its modernist architecture and location at the heart of Barcelona's oldest district, Espanya Hotel blends heritage with modern-day comfort. The hotel is situated on a quiet street, just a few minutes walk from Las Ramblas and its attractions, while the nearby metro station provides access to the wider city. Rooms are small but comfortably furnished and feature essentials such as air conditioning, but the Espanya is better known for its lobby and dining rooms. Designed by Lluis Domenech i Montaner, they are breathtaking examples of modernist architecture; one has sea life murals by Ramon Casas, the other magnificent floral tiling and wood-beamed roof. Guests can enjoy a leisurely breakfast, light lunch or evening meal in such an intimate, original ambiance.

For all guest bookings with period of stay from November 1st 2012 onwards, a city tax must be paid directly to the hotel during check out for a maximum of 7 consecutive nights.

4* Hotel: A city tax of 1.10 Euros + VAT per person per night in Barcelona (0.90 Euros + VAT in Catalonia);

YOU COULD JUST STARE AT THE AMAZING WALLS ALL DAY LONG. SMALL ROOFTOP PLUNGE POOL AND GREAT HANGING GARDENS THROUGHOUT. LEVEL 1 HAS A READING AREA WITH BOOKS, THAT OVERLOOKS THE RESTAURANT DOWNSTAIRS. EXTRMELY FUNKY HOTEL THAT I CANT WAIT TO STAY IN AGAIN! METRO AND BUS STOPS 1 MINUTE WALK AWAY. SURROUNDED BY RESTAURANTS, BANKS AND SOUVENIR SHOPS.

Bar man very friendly & helpful. 9.7 Fantastic stay in this beautiful hotel. Rooms, decor all top quality. Staff excellent and more than helpful advising about where to eat, making reservations etc. Restaurant Tip: Canete Tapas Bar is fabulous, as recommended by the bar man in the hotel. It is a 3 minute walk from hotel. Great atmosphere in it, but a little more pricey than the other tapas bars we ate in. Still think it is worth it though!

Fonda Restaurant
The restaurant is located in the Modernist dining room originally designed and decorated by Domènech i Montaner, a rich environment of historical value in which the older features enhance and inspire the new. At Fonda España, Martín Berasategui aims to bring his renowned culinary style to a wider audience with simple, balanced and mouth-watering creations that pay tribute to this renowned chef’s origins. Fonda España offers traditional cuisine that has been brought up to date, is presented imaginatively and uses the best ingredients available.
