One block from Puerta del Sol and two blocks from Plaza Mayor - you can walk ANYWHERE in the city and get to a metro station within 3 minutes. Complete lack of air circulation and bad smell in the room. While we were happy to be VERY close to all the main attractions in Madrid, the room was dark, gloomy, smelly and unbearably hot. There was no air conditioning and the hotel staff could not give us a fan when we asked. The windows of the room opened onto a dirty, small interior courtyard and there was NO air circulation in the room whether the windows open or closed. We would NOT recommend to our friends.

We stayed only one night at the Asturias Hotel on our way to the Mediterranian cruise port in Barcelona. The location of this hotel cannot be matched because we could walk to Plaza Mayor, Palacio Real and Museo del Prado.
Staff were helpful. Room is so so and not very clean but ok for one night. Maybe we stayed during weekend and saw a lot of UK travellers who were loud and noisy during the night.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : All Madrid sightseeings and attractions are close because you can walk or ride on the metro. The SOL metro station is only 200 metres away.

Location is very central. On a main street so you can feel safe walking to it very late at night. Not in the best state of repair. This hotel looks nicer on the outside than on the inside. If you get a low price it is ok. The doors are worn. If you are looking for something cheap this might be ok.
