A good, modern city hotel
A modern city hotel near the city centre offering comfortable accommodation at a good price

Comfortable with friendly, helpful staff. We thought the corridors were rather dark and gloomy and the lifts took ages. It would have been good to have had tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms. The hotel is ideally situated for exploring the beautiful city of Madrid.

The Ayres Gran Hotel Colon is a hotel in a new building and with modern design. Everything is very clean. Very good English level in all the staff.
Either the room and the bathroom are big and well provided with all the necessary.
It also offers high quality in the breakfast buffet.
The hotel is not in the historic centre; however it is well connected with the most exciting monuments to visit, the train station and the airport. It is placed at two hundred meters from the underground station (Sainz de Baranda) and bus (number 20) stops very close to the hotel.

Great hotel in a good location
Quick access to metro, close to retiro park, nice room and breakfast.

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights. We went to Madrid for the 2013 Madrid Marathon and to visit the city. The hotel was perfect for us as it was close to the Retiro Park where the marathon finish line was, so we could actually walk to our comfortable bed after an exhausting race. There are also some nice restaurants in the area - we loved the food at Gino's - and the metro is only 3 minutes away from the hotel so we were able to go visit all major sights we wanted to see... Breakfast was ok, not many options for vegetarians but that is hard to find in any buffet breakfast. Overall this hotel was great and we would certainly stay here again if we visit Madrid in the future.
