Acceptable but old hotel, too expensive

This hotel is located near the city centre and can be easily reached by public transport. Bonus: a mobility card for transport within Basel is given upon arrival.
Hotel is in a centuries old building: small windows so rather dark in the rooms anyway. My room was overlooking a small inner court (room even darker, and more because of the scaffolding). Room was relatively large. Furniture is old. Electricity is a nightmare: power cords running loosely through the room everywhere. Room has what hotel calls a minibar (= a fridge, but empty and not switched on). There is satellite tv with many channels. Wifi is available for free but this is often very slow and regularly there is no signal.
Breakfast offers everything needed but is rather basic, nothing hot other than boil-it-yourself eggs; since there were not many guests the quantity of food put on the buffet was limited, understandable but in combination with the building activities it made the whole thing look rather meagre.
Check-in starts at 14.00 PM; I arrived at 13.00 PM and was told to come back later. Not a very warm welcome.
In short: acceptable hotel, but too expensive. For not much more money you can stay in a better, modern hotel.
