Built in 1962 and renovated in 1995, the hotel has 40 well-decorated guestrooms and is situated in a quiet area near the village centre. The Rex Hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the Zermatt Train Station. It is also a short walk to the main street, where guest will find many recreational and entertainment facilities. The hotel has a beautiful garden with a beautiful view of the Matterhorn. Guests can enjoy a delicious breakfast served in the dining room. The family-run four-star hotel is known for its repeat guests and provides guests with personal touches and excellent service while staying in Zermatt.

free internet access The Rex Hotel in Zermatt goes beyond Swiss hospitality, to attend to their guests. The rooms are clean, bright,and well appointed, complete with TV, but the hotel has much more to offer. The pool/hot tub are not only large facilities which never feel full, but include multiple showers and therapy rooms including an aroma shower, all of which are included in the room rate. There is also free internet access in the quiet lobby area, and excellent breakfast in a large bright room, and complimentary pick up at the train station. But all of these pale in comparison to the positive attitude of the staff toward their guests. After a long transatlantic trip overnight, and a couple of train rides into Zermatt, you are made to feel like you have just returned home. Priceless.

While there were no tea and coffee making facilities the staff gave us a thermus with hot water in it that lasted all day. The shower in the room was very nice and the views from the room were also nice. Zermatt is a small place. The hotel is really 5 to 10 minutes walk from the Train station
Shopping Tip : Do your laundry before you get to Switzerland!! 60 euros for the laundry service in Zermatt (while a very good service) is a bit expensive.
