Fancy looking hotel unf. with less substance

We were unaware that this hotel mainly caters to Arab guests specifically - and we are western and perhaps had different expectations. The hotel looks blingy, and service standard is high, however considering this is supposedly a 5 star hotel (for a 4 star price), we were a little disappointed with the lack of amenities, e.g. no pool, spa, sauna or other luxury.
Another few minus points were:
- We arrived early (10:30am) and were told they could keep our luggage and bring it to our room when it became available, so that we could go into the city. When arriving back at 10pm, our luggage was still in the same place next to the door! Not very safe...
- It took ages for the wireless internet to work, with unusable passwords and delays in response from concierge.
- The room was hardly big enough for a couple with two average sized suitcases.
- There is a metro and tram about 500m walk from the hotel, just a little far if you have to carry more than 1 piece of luggage.
Nightlife Tip:
The square/park near Aksaray metro stop is a great sample of real Turkish life, rather than the tourist traps of Sultanahmet. Around this square the shopping and dining is much cheaper.
Follow the signs to get on the tram line, rather than the metro, the latter which cannot take you to the main tourist things like Topkapi Palace, Blue mosque etc

The hotel is very average..nothing great, with the pics and description given on the site we had very high expectations. Also the location mentioned is not correct .on the site it says sultanmeht but it's actually a little far from the old city..breakfast again was very basic.. Water bottles in the room were free only for the 1st day, unlike all other 3 to 5 star hotels in the world which give atleast 2 small bottles free everyday.And when we called for water each 0.5 ltr bottle was charged @ 4 lira which was very expensive considering it only costs 0.50 liras outside..also the coffee , tea in the room was never replenished and the cups were never washed or changed. We had to call them each time for the cupsto be changed..some of the rooms are not small but tiny...
1 good thing was that the reception staff was very helpful and courteous...specially Mr Murad..
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Sight seeing (old city) ,night life (taksem square) Are all at a distance from the hotel.

The best hotel I have ever seen!
It is really beautiful inside, good breakfat-buffet and close to the tramline that goes to the city-center and main places of interest!

We have chosen this hotel to spend our honey-moon and it was even better than we expected: really beautiful spacious room, nice helpful staff, good breakfast-buffet. The ebterior is traditional and I would say luxirious in a good way! The location is also a win: nexto to the big shopping center - Historia and close to the tram-line that goes to the city-center. It was really convinient! I would certainly recommend this hotel to everyone - it is worth the money! I have been to many hotels and this one is one of the best!
