quiet location but near the action

good location in sultanahmet (old part of istanbul), near blue mosque and aya sofya (5 minute walk). one street away from the restaurant street, but still quiet on a side street. that's why i recommend to bring a card of the hotel always with you because the taxi drivers don't know where it's located.
nice room (ours was 202 - there are 4 floors), although a bit small (but every room seems small in sultanahmet area because old part of town). serviced everyday. wi-fi excellent from the room, was able to instragram and facebook without problems. didn't use the tv so can't tell on the channels availability - but i guess all the channels are in turkish. the tv is excessively small, but anyway, you'll find yourselves walking in the city more than watching tv. good air-con, but directly pointed at the bed, so we ended up closing it and open the window (with some noise on the train in the morning...)
the hotel is equivalent to a good comfort inn in usa or canada.
breakfast is turkish style, don't expect american bacon or pancakes. but we found it good anyway. breakfast is served downstairs but you can take it up on the roof for a 360 degree view (including bosphorus and blue mosque).
staff were helpful in booking our bus tickets to goreme. the bus station is 1 hour away by taxi in rush hour, so you should call and reserve before...

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Saba Sultan as it is conveniently located in Sultanahmet, Central Istanbul. It is in a quiet street, just a short walk away from the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and Topkapi Palace and many other sights. In the area where the hotel is located are many lovely restaurants and cafés. The hotel rooms are very nice decorated, very modern combined with oriental design. The rooms are extremely clean and well equiped. The owner and staff are extremely hospitable and helpful. The breakfast buffet is generous, it offers a wide range of local delicacies. From the top floor terrace you will have a great 360° view of the area - a nice spot to enjoy the sunset or the early morning hours, before it gets to hot (in summer). We can only recommend this lovely hotel.

saba sultan hotel is very nice hotel. it is located in sultan ahmed area which is the oldest area in istanbul. it is nice hotel and the rooms were clean and the room was large and it has wi fi. the location of the hotel is very near to the blue mosque.

The staff are very helpful during our stay. We have made the booking via the hotel. They recommended us the bosphorus tour and it was very nice. They are very friendly and we feel very warm during the stay. The location is accessible, just 5 minutes walk to the sultanahment square. However, the taxi driver don't know the location and everytime we take the taxi, they have to ask the location.
It was a nice experience to live here.

Saba Sultan was a really nice place. They gave s a great recommendation for a place to have dinner for our anniversary. They helped us arrange a boat excursion on the Bosphorus. Always asked us how we were. Very good security. Breakfast was Turkish but always included hard boiled eggs and cereal and American coffee. Too hot to eat on the roof, but would be nice in a cooler part of the year.
Restaurant Tip:
Tria restaurant was an incredible place with to die for views of the Bosphorus and all of the major mosques. Wonderful food. Lots of choices. Made it really special for our anniversary.

the staff is always smiling and friendly, rooms are spotless and spacious, and there is a lovely terrace with a great view on the bosphorus!
close to main tourist attractions (blue mosque, hagya sofia, grand bazaar, cruise)
no food in the hotel but if you walk a few meters you will find a street with plenty of restaurants!

The place to stay in Istanbul

To arrive to Saba Sultan Hotel from Ataturk International Airport you can take the metro that cost 4 Turkish Liras, get off at Zeytinburnu, the 6th stop, connect to B1 tram, that cost 1 TL, and get off at Sultanahmet Stop.
Do not forget to bring along a detailed map because the area, clearly a tourist area, it is full of small hotels and it is not easy at all to find someone to show you the way to the Hotel.
Saba Sultan Hotel has been renovated a couple of years ago and it looks like new and very clean.
It is definitely not a 5 star hotel but there is a lift and rooms are very quite, have air condition, a small LCD TV and free WIFI.
They are not small but right size for couples that come to stay for a vacation.
We found that breakfast, which is self service, needs to be improved a bit because it is prepared to cater more for Turkish clients than for internationals.
Staff are very kind, helpful and knowledgeable.
Hotel is located about 400 meters from all main attractions in Istanbul: Blue Mosque, Santa Sophia, Topkapi Palace and Cisterna Basilica.
To visit Gran Bazar you may walk or take B1 tram for 2 stops and for Egyptian-Spice Bazar take B1 tram in the opposite direction, for 4 stops.
Tram tickets cost 2 Turkish Liras per trip and are very frequent and clean. Enjoy your stay.

Die Lage im Herzen von Sultanahmet ist optimal für Erkundungstouren.
Die Klimaanlage war allerdings nicht regulierbar und das Zimmer war nicht optimal wärmeisoliert.
Es war in der Nacht deshalb ein hin-und-her zwischen Hitze und Kälte...
Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.
