Great for a short stay
location, location , location!

We really enjoyed our stay. We had booked to stay only for 1 night because we were seeing a show in Edinburgh and chose it due to its proximity to the playhouse. The location was excellent for this purpose, but also very close to Waverley Station, and all the main sights. Staff were absolutely lovely, would return and recommend

The room was very comfortable and the location of the hotel is quite central. The only complaint was free wifi was not provided and that the concierge was slow in processing bills as they were understaffed.

Great city centre hotel
Very close to Princes Street and 5-10 min walk from the Royal Mile

We stayed for two nights, room only in mid Jan 2013.
The hotel is 5 minutes walk from Edinburgh Waverley train station and is very easy to find. There is a Starbucks coffee house across the road from the hotel and the Omni Centre bars, restaurant and theatre are just down the road.
The receptionist was very friendly upon our arrival, which was close to 10pm after our train was delayed. There is no problem with checking in late, check in us any time from 2pm.
Our room was very clean, double bed ( very comfy) with on suite. Bath towels, toiletries and hair dryer were provided. Coffee making facilities, an iron and an ironing board (built into the wardrobe) were also within the room.
Overall a very nice stay at the King James. I would stay again and I would definitely recommend the hotel to my friends.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Check out the Mary Kings Close tour on the Royal Mile. £12.50 per adult. A one hour tour through some of closes (narrow streets) which run underneath the Royal Mile. It's not a ghost tour, but it is underground and dark with a slightly spooky story via projector on a wall half way through the tour.

twin room space is ok and reception is helpful.
