Hotel for special occasions

Very enjoyable stay. A top quality old country house hotel in nice grounds. Think Downton Abbey with a good sized pool and sauna and fitness centre.
Hotel Feature Tip:
The main restaurant is very good and consequently expensive, but they have a restaurant in the leisure centre as well which is more ordinary with prices to match if you do not want to indulge every night.

Steeped in Grandeur

this hotel did not let me down. i booked two rooms and took my parents there as a treat, i wanted them to be impressed by the grandeur and they were indeed. the staff were very friendly and enjoyed showing us around. lunch in the clocktower was very nice, generous sandwiches but the soup was a little salty - the beef stew was very tasty.
2 highlights for me, apart from the room and the hotel as a whole: enjoying a beer in the snooker room which we had to ourselves....the room was impressive as was the lounge with country magazines dotted around which was a nice touch.
the second was the breakfast, very nice and well presented...we didnt have dinner in the hotel but i imagine it would be of a high standard, maybe next time.
this is a very nice hotel indeed.

Set in lovely gardens and country side
