- Various selections of Breakfast
- Room space
- Near Tube station
- Good Hospitality from Restaurant
- Old decoration, look scary at night
- Though various food but same eveyday, it's boring
- Only 1 staff at reception, need to wait
Overall, Russell looks fine for me. Just comment on old decoration, delay in service. As I asked for checking baby cot (check-in at 9pm), no feedback from reception. Then I had to call for feedback til 12am, finally no baby cot available.
2nd night, the keycard didnot work then I and baby need to wait outside the room for 15 minutes and no feedback. I had to go to reception instead.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Only 3 minutes walk to Tube station
and just cross the road for sightseeing tour

Refurbished bathroom of a modern design.
Clean.
Air conditioning for the hot July night.
Good breakfast.
Took some time to register when I arrived due to only two staff and a lot of people arriving to book in at the same time.
I have stayed in The Russell in the past so knew I would be getting value for money in a high class hotel. Since my previous stay the rooms have been refurbished and my room had a modern bathroom of above average size for a London hotel. The room although a single room was also of a good size. Although my room overlooked Russell Square, at night the double glazing kept out the noise and the air conditioning worked well to keep the room cool. A good breakfast too.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Handy for all London attractions. Very close to British Museum and plenty of good restaurants, all cuisines.

Good location for travel and stays in London, recently refurbished, friendly staff
Rooms on the small size, Restaurant food was attrocious ofr a 4* hotel
We stayed in the hotel for one night prior to an early Eurostar departure. Staff on the whole were very friendly. The rooms we had were on the small size but has been tastefully refurbished and had all the amenities you would need. The major disappointment was the food in the restaurant. My wife ordered pollock in tempura batter, when it arrived the batter was too tough to cut and when you did there was no sign of any fish, not the standard we would expect from a 4* hotel. The staff did allow us to have a complimentary dessert but the hotel kitchen did itself no favours.

Good location, high standard, beautiful entrance, easy access to Heathrow.
Poor knowledge of tourist information. Poor information regarding details around the breakfast etc.
I was very happy with my stay in the single room that I booked for one night. The room was clean, spacious enough, and beautifully decorated with a window facing the park. The hotel is just a minute from Russel Square tube station, one stop from Pically circus, and with relatively easy access to other major spots such a Oxford circus, Notting Hill gate etc. It is also convenient to get to Heathrow, as the Picadilly line takes you directly there (although it takes almost an hour). The breakfast buffee was generous with plenty of hot and cold thigns to choose from, although my croissant felt a bit old... They have a place where you can leave your luggage in case you arrive before check in time which in my case was at 2 in the afternoon. If I should complain about something, I felt that the staff at the reception was not very helpful with answering the touristy questions I had. The guy I spoke to seemed to think my questions were a bit stupid and on top of that he gave me misleading info about opening hours etc - I had the feeling he didn't know basic things about his own city which I would expect from a hotel reception at a hotel of this kind. But all in all I was very pleased with my stay!

noisy airco outside the building, opposite my window
The hotel is in a beautiful building, with marvellous stairs and mosaic floors. It is ideally located near Russell Square tube station and sites like the British Museum. Also St Pancras station (international trains: Eurostar) is not too far away.
The rooms are large and have everything you need, including a fridge.
Breakfast buffet is great and offers anything one needs, but the room is crowded and people are usually waiting in line to get their breakfast.

location is great; beautiful building; great food
window in room had milk glass, so couldn't look outside; somewhere outside a machine (airco?) was running 24/7 which was a bit noisy.
The Russell hotel is most excellent. It is near the British Museum and Russell Square tube station, so located ideally.
The remarkably large rooms are well equipped with all you need, from ironing equipment to coffee making facilities.
However, internet access (wireless) is charged even when using one’s own computer; this is not done often any more in hotels.
There is a breakfast buffet, which contains everything one expects; full English breakfast is GBP 1 extra, but in the end this was not charged to me. The breakfast room is large, but with so many rooms in the hotel there usually is a short queue of hungry people.
An excellent choice.

Wonderful Location
Friendly Staff atmosphere
Rooms very comfortable and spacious
Russell Square tube does not run late evenings and if any hiccup on Piccadilly line it closes down, which caused us a lot of stress getting to Airport.
Stayed in this great hotel with our two sons aged 18 and 21 for a family break to ring in the New year. Myself and husband were upgraded to an Ambassador Hotel on the top floor and my sons were also given rooms on this floor overlooking the Park. Could not fault the hotel. The reception desk even helped us book in for our flight and printed the boarding passes for us. Would recommend getting taxi to Airport if flying early a.m. as the Russell Square tube can close at a moments notice. We almost missed our flight as we had to take an alternative route. Otherwise I would consider booking this hotel, especially since Agoda.com gives such good rates.

Nice hotel, kind staff, good breakfast, great location
We have stayed in Hotel Russel 7 days and have enjoyed it very much. First of all the location is very good: 1 minute walk to Underground Picadilly line, which is especialy good if you are traveling through Heathrow. Picadilly line starts from the airport terminals and come close to the hotel.\nStaff was very kind. When we had problem with hot water they have changed our room without any problems. Breakfast also was good.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : There is a small and nice garden just accross the hotel which is good for small children.

Great Location. Stylish rooms. Good breakfast.
Internet facilities are very expensive
I only stayed 1 night at the Russell Square Hotel but for it's price and location i was very impressed. Included breakfast was fantastic. Service was friendly and helpful. They've done a good job of renevating old rooms. Very Stylish, neat & spacious enough.

Handy location for many of London's sights and
very close to Russell square underground station.
Rather small single room, but then this is London!
The hotel is a grand old late Victorian building with lots of coloured marbel in the lobby and on the main staircase and is interesting architecturally as well as being comfortable.
The single room that I had was small, but clean and comfortable, and oddly the bathroom was nearly as big as the bedroom itself!
Overall quite good value for London, not easy to find at the moment!
Shopping Tip : Turn right out of the hotel and right again at
the first street. A little further along there is an M&S food that is 24 hours (good for middle of the night munchies brought on by jet lag!). Beyond that there is a new shopping mall with a number of restaurants and shops and a Sainsbury's
