Nice lobby and bars. Quiet location, but not too far from the tube. The standard room was small, shabby, and nothing like any of the pictures. Pay for the upgrade. The pictures make you think that you are getting a steal. The prices are for the standard room which is in the adjacent building. Mine was small and shabby. I went back to the front desk and paid for an upgrade. The upgraded room is actually pretty descent; almost like the pictures. Online access was through BTOnline, not cheap, but useful elsewhere also.

If you need to eat a dinner in the hotel I would recommend ordering room service. The menu is fairly good and you do get a reasonable meal. There is a delivery charge but this is the same price as service charge in the restaurant. When I was checking out I enquired about the problem in my room and they offered me a free upgrade for my next stay in the hotel. I would stay here again for a business trip but might look for somewhere else if I was on a social trip.

Directions :
Take the Heathrow Express or Picadilly line into London, then take the Northern, Metropolitan, Circle or Hammersmith and City Line to Old Street or Barbican. Thistle City Barbican is on Central Street, 10 minutes walk from either tube station. There is also a shuttle service running from Old Street to the hotel, then to Barbican and back to Old Street. The service runs from 7.10am -10am and from 5pm - 8pm.
