The Falcon has an ideal location near the center of town--about 10 minutes walk from the train station and 5 minutes walk from the River Avon and the RSC theaters. The room was clean, the furnishings updated and comfortable. The staff polite, efficient and considerate. The prices was outstanding, especially compared to other hotels. The breakfast buffet offered a variety of choices and was an excellent value. This is a place I would stay again. There are two wings of the hotel--the new modern area and the older Tudor-style wing. The Tudor wing has charm, but the ceilings of my room and bathroom sloped so much it would have been a tight fit if I'd been taller than average for a woman. The floor is also uneven, sloping down from the window to the entry. The electricity is kind of a game of figuring out what can be on simultaneously without triggering the circuit breakers. These issues wouldn't keep me away from "The Falcon," but I would be careful about requesting a room the best suits your needs, particularly if you are a larger person, both in height or weight. I would also be concerned about staying in the older wing if you had any problems climbing stairs or carrying bags. There was no lift that I could see. A person with orthopaedic problems or perhaps some eldery visitors would have difficulty getting to their rooms. In that case, request a ground floor room or go to the modern wing.
Location, cost, polite staff
some older rooms are oddly shaped with sloped ceilings and floors; no lift to the older hotel with narrow, steep stairs
- Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Excellent location for Royal Shakespeare Theaters and historical sites by River Avon (such as Shakepeare's Grave).
