the worst hotel i have been to in my life

good in this hotel
the light in the toilet was not working, there is no phone to call reception, the heater was so small and not enough to worm the room, the water tap was broken and the worst thing is the noise from the bar down stare . i would not suggest any one to stay there unless has to.

Do not stay here

the room was clean
We booked in two nights, Friday and Saturday and on our arrival found the place pumping with loud music. They already had our money so we had been sucked into staying. The room was clean, but from this point our experience got worse. The web site says sky TV; we got free view which would have been ok if the remote for the TV had batteries. The place was modern but the accommodation area is old and in some places poorly looked after, for example, open linen room (with a missing door or it was jammed open and we couldn’t see it). The biggest problem was the loud music which carried on until 3 am both nights. There was no customer service and when I wanted to complain, I was told by the bar lady to “calm down, don’t get excited.” Bar patrons will take the parking at back and on the second night at 2 am I was shown the second car park which had access from another street. Totally unpleasant stay and we felt so uncomfortable that we couldn’t even shower as we just wanted to get away ASAP each day. We got about 5 hours sleep in total and all we wanted in the stay was a place to crash at night so this experience was a total bust. Shame on you Exchange Hotel.

awful. to call this place an hotel is misleading.

the windows opened; the (noisy) bar actually closed before midnight on the sunday;
this "hotel" would be called a "doss house" in the uk or the usa. it's location was in a dormitory city outside wellington (lower hutt). the other clientelle in the establishment seemed to be homeless and/or persons down on their luck. on arriving at around 6pm on the day of arrival the room had to be rapidly made up. the bed sheets had not been washed. the room was not made up between the first and second night. the room was depressing and dirty. the nightly rate was more than twice as expensive as a very clean and new single room in a backpackers in central wellington.

Overnight cheap convenient. Quiet.

Location, easy welcome, proximity to local facilities
Works for me - although the first room shown was not cleaned (with sincere apologies offered ) - and the one I stayed in had a weak shower, broken toilet seat, and no remote for the TV. But it is close by my work and saves a long journey home. Quiet and convenient for a range of food places, supermarkets, transport. And the staff were relaxed and friendly.

dirty and noisy (the ground floor was a bar/disco)

there's nothing good about this place, please choose another place or otherwise you will get crazy
the place was dirty 'to be honest i don't even think that they've changed the bed linen...' the dust was all over the place, the noise was impossible until 2 in the morning ...awful

The room is above a pub it is very noisey at the weekends !! The air Con for the pub was just out side our window so we didnt get much sleep the first night. In a good location for shops and only twenty minute s from the city.
