Good location, spacious room but not welcoming.

For me personally, the only benefit with this hotel was its location. It's five minutes walk from the closest underground train station. Otherwise I was totally disappointed with my stay. First of all, it was in the middle of renovation, and all furniture was torn apart and put on the floor. When I first arrived, I was not even sure if the hotel was open. Then I was given a room right next to the dining hall despite the fact I sent a specific request for a quiet room when I made booking. I asked for a new room, which would be away from the hall but my request was not accommodated. The receptionist just told me there were only a few guests and it should not be noisy. Sure enough, in the morning I was awoken by the noise in the kitchen and other guests talking in the hall. It was also awkward coming out from the room and immediately facing with other guests at the table. WiFi was not working both on the arrival day and the departure day. When I complained about it, the receptionist simply said 'It might not be working', and did not make any effort or apologize for the inconvenience. Perhaps my visit to the hotel was not the best timing for them.

Lovely Hotel

Located near town
Nice old hotel located just 20 minutes walking from downtown. Rooms are a bit older, but clean.

Convenient for city centre and public transport. Olde worlde charm with oak panelling
We liked the hotel. Although it was slightly shabby, it had charm with oak panelling and oil paintings in the breakfast room. We were at the back of the hotel overlooking a small court yard so it was quiet. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom adequate although in need of refurbishment. The buffet breakfast was good and filling with a reasonable choice of both sweet and savoury items and coffee of good Viennese standards. It may not be to everyone's taste but for its price, we thought it was good value for money and would recommend it for its location and friendliness of staff.
