This ecotourism hotel is an award winner for very good reasons, and it actually has to be seen to be truly believed. The Fur ‘n’ Feathers Rainforest Tree Houses Hotel combines luxury, top-notch service, and the tranquility of untouched nature into one, truly unforgettable experience. Nearby, quaint coffee shops, used book stores and antique shops complete the isolated feel of the area, but most guests choose to remain in their majestic tree houses. Five houses on stilts (one on the ground for mobility-limited patrons) are located in the surrounding rainforest which was (and will continue to be) virtually untouched by the presence of the hotel. Guests enjoy the presence of some of Australia’s most exotic wildlife, including tree kangaroos, cassowaries, wallabies, and a plethora of beautiful birds. This is an unfenced community – the animals actually choose to live there without bait or cages, many guests leave understanding why the animals would feel that way.
