Beautiful hotel with heavenly view

The view from the rooms, the decor of the hotel & extremely friendly staff & owner.
This is a hotel I would highly recommend. The decor & view is simply amazing! I would highly recommend the Fire & Wood rooms, you'll feel like royalty there. The owner was so sweet & helpful. Made us feel truly special. You'll enter as a guest but when you'll leave, you would feel like a family. What an amazing experience it was!

If looking for a green retreat to write in peace

Nature Green, view, clean
Fine stay overall. I stayed one night as the location was close to my final destination. It is a boutique hotel with a particular interior design (very personal to the owner) not necessarily matching details yet, it is confortable offering large bedroom with terrace or balconies. The early morning around 6am is my favourite as birds waking up sing happy morning in the morning mist, lovely music and fantastic cotton clouds floating in low sky. The food service is very, very slow and needs professional implementation (lack of attention from the waiter). The food is just ok, western food is not so authentic need to improve. Apology to the head chef who is a kind and gentleman, I am sure he can make it happen, he has to follow up his team closely. It is not a 5* Standard and I doubt it will be considering the interior design style. Overall, the welcome is warm and the place is confortable.

In the middle of nowhere, long & dangerous drive

Good view, nice chef, pool
Had a terrible stay. Do not recommend this place. This hotel is nowhere near Kandy city center. It is high up in the mountains and a very long, dangerous drive -- much of the way is unpaved. Do not do the drive at night. The drive there was so long and terrifying from Kandy that we walked part of the way back to avoid putting our lives at risk again, and getting carsick. There is nothing to do, no restaurants or shops or sightseeing near the hotel. If you want to be completely isolated I guess it's a good place to be. Management was appalling - we asked to leave a day early since the hotel is falsely advertised as 5-star and close to Kandy. Said they would refund us if we talked to Agoda. When Agoda then called them they refused to reimburse us. We left a day early anyway since the staff made a point of being unwelcoming. Had booked a room with two double beds, instead they wanted to put us in the room that is literally in the hotel lobby (with terrible acoustics and no privacy) and has a single king size bed. After much negotiating they agreed to let us have a room upstairs with two double beds. The hotel only had 2 other guests in it the entire time we were there - so it was especially strange that they wanted to put us in the worst room in the entire place. The food was good, however many items and ingredients on the menu weren't in stock. Nothing about this hotel is five star, it is more like a 3 star. Pool is okay, wooden furniture (loungers) is incredibly uncomfortable. Don't have cushions to put on them. They also had trouble locating towels for the pool area – asked us to bring bath towels from our room! There is no food or beverage service at the pool. Accommodation for our driver was also terrible, poorly ventilated & tons of mosquitoes so the poor guy didn't get much sleep either.

great stay

location, food and cleanness
i have mix feelings about it because of the location of the home it is very high up in the mountain giving a fairytale for a view and on the other hand it takes 50 minutes to get to it from kandy on a long and extremely bumpy ride ending it with 2.5 km of dirt road which killed my back ! my advice if u are looking to stay in it without getting out that it is an excellent choice

Ideal for a real getaway

beautiful panorama, quiet and isolated, clean
We ended up having to cancel our second night at the hotel but the staff were really helpful. I loved my time there and would definitely go back given the right circumstances.

Gem in the middle of nowhere

Huge stylish rooms, fine dining, great swimming pool and spa.
Once you managed one hour tricky road from Kandy, you only need to relax and enjoy. The staff is friendly and helpful. I would advise to stay at least for two night there.

Pearl in the forest

Peace, Beautiful rooms , SPA Treatment .
We was in this hotel only one night and its not enough! Because there in this place need to stay a minimum of two or three nights. The journey from Kandy is 18km long and takes 45min. But definitely worth it. This small boutique hotel has something special, you just can not describe but you can feel it....The staff is very helpful and friendly, the food served is freshly prepared and delicious taste. I had Shirodhara - thi was the best in my life . Thanks you for this experience. We definitely will come again.

Relaxing break away

The view, the food and the stillness
We stopped in here for two nights as we traveled around Sri Lanka. Was a great change splashing out and staying there. Took about an hour from Kandy by tuk tuk. Not that far, just not great roads. Staff friendly and helpful. Food was great. We really enjoyed this break in the mountains!

Comfortable, great atmosphere and attentive staff

comfort of rooms, ability to organize excursions/transport, staff
This hotel is highly recommended for those, including families, looking for some peace and quiet in a mountain setting. In our case, coming from the Arab Gulf, we were not interested in staying at a beach resort and staying in the city of Kandy also did not appeal to us. If you are in the same position, this is a great choice. To be clear: this hotel is not in Kandy but around 17km away in the mountains, which is nice in terms of atmosphere but less so for the 50 minute one-way trip into the city, which practically speaking requires transport arranged by the hotel. Hotel staff are very accommodating and went out of their way to make our trip and enjoyable one. We were traveling with a two year-old child, and they were good sports about her messes at breakfast/dinner and so on. Overall, if you're looking for some peace and a base from which to undertake excursions in and around Kandy, this hotel is highly recommended.
