Worst place in SE Asia by far!

The ONLY good thing about this hotel was the location. It was centrally located to pub-street. That is all in terms of positives.
The Golden Fish was the worst experience that my girlfriend and I had at a hotel throughout SE Asia. It was cheap but nothing so great to expect that something might be awry. We were a little out of it when arriving (motion-sickness pills from the bus) so we accepted the room when we got there. Bad move. The mold was so bad I could feel spores growing in my lungs each breath and we had to wear masks in the room to breath without feeling disgusting. Visually the mold was everywhere and the hotel room was falling apart and very dingy. The bathtub in the bathroom was cracked in half and we were lucky we didn't cut our feet. The AC barely worked and the entire establishment looked as if it hadn't received any care in the last few years. Sadly it looked as if the hotel manager (husband/wife and perhaps brother with 2 young infants) were outside of their realm and had way to much to deal with. The hallways had no light and everything was covered with a bit of dust/grime. We slept there the first night but first thing in the morning packed up and looked for a new place even though we had paid for 2 nights. Could not stay in that place another minute. Pay the extra few bucks and stay in a nicer place down the road, TRUST ME.

Their ways of earning more money...

fellow travellers...thats it
I didnt even get to stay there. Upon reaching, they told me its full...which is not supposed to be since i booked it with 5 rooms available. They gave me some rubbish excuses and wanted me to switch to Smiley Hostel...without paying extra...i agreed since i didnt want to walk around this is one of their ways of earning outsourcing extra customers to other hostels to earn a commission...they paid for my tuk tuk there...the place was fine, just that it isnt as central as it supposed to be...wifi sucks breakfast...u can arrange your onward travel from here though...something most hostels will provide...non-aircon room with ensuite bathroom...only towel provided...luckily i got my own toiletries...

Very cheap and great location

Price, location and breakfast included
Very cheap guesthouse with very convenience location in central Siem Reap. We arrive in Nattakan Bus office (from Bangkok by bus) near KFC in old market and it is less than 10 minutes walk to this guesthouse. On departure, we only walk 100 meters to Mekong Express Bus office (next to DHL office) for our bus to Ho Chi Minh City. This guesthouse also walking distance to nightlife street and riverside night market. So if you just want to go around Siem Reap city, you don't need Tuk-Tuk at all. About our room, yes for sure you got what you pay, but at least their bathroom clean, even there're no hot water. Breakfast only French bread with butter, jam and peanut butter, also with coffee or tea. They said breakfast start 7am, but finally they serve our breakfast earlier (6am) due to they know that we must catch our bus to next destination.. two thumbs!

Very basic room with great location

Location, location, location
Our room was very basic and there was a bit of a musty smell in the corridor and our room. There were no windows facing the outside. The free drinking water promised online is a tiny bottle given to you at check-out. There are much nicer places to stay in Siem Reap for less money. The location, however, is fantastic - you are right next to everything.

Rude boss

the hotel did not pick us up although the hotel is advertising airport pick-up. the hotel is also advertising free breakfast. the hotel did not want to give us the free breakfast! the boss of the hotel was angry at me and my husband, because we were talking to other travelers about restaurants and cheap bars in town, he said to us: "if you keep talking to other people in my place. i will tell you to leave."

Dark, not very welcoming

We didn't stay here for very long. The room was dark and wifi signal was poor. Bathroom was tiny and offered no ventilation. Beds were uncomfortable. You are definitely not getting what you're paying for and as backpackers we really weren't asking for much but were very disappointed with the room.

Fine Guesthouse

you dont need to ride the tuktuk to go shopping and dining
I dont think its fair to write a negative review about this guesthouse since is so cheap and it will really fit your budget. But if you are on a budget try a another guesthouse, the location i s perfect as you dont need to ride a tuk tuk to go eat, shop or sightseeing but you cannot survive a fire if you are on this building theres no windows and the aisles and stairs between the rooms are so narrow can barely fit two people ,t here was even a water interruption for 20 minutes on our first day of stay and electric interupption for 20 minutes too on our 2nd day of stay. If you want a nice breakfast you have to pay extra, since the free breakfast is nothing but a piece of bread and a butter or a jam.
