Bad location for me, uncomfortable and a little t

Checking out.
Very brief. The hotel is old and worn, elderly staff who tried, rooms dingy, bathroom again tired. Would not use again other than in an emergency.

"Old Charm" - with not Much Charm Left

Afte staying six whole nights at the Golden Horse Hotel during our recent visit to Bangkok, we are absolutely certian that this hotel must have seen better days, about twenty years ago...First of all, arriving at the Reception Desk, there was not even one person who was able to understand us, or communicate with us in a proper English, nor in any other language that we speak (Spanish/ French). This has caused numerous misunderstandings between us throughout our stay. Second, the rooms are in a bad shape: they hadn't been painted for the last fifteen years or so, there is a constant smell of mould, and the beds and mattresses are in an awfull state. Going out to the corridor, you are faced with run-down carpets, and smells of mould everywhere...The elevator is in a very bad shape, and the bell-boy is ill-trained...I would also apply to this the staff of the restaurant, no one of whom speaks English. Thirdly: the location of the hotel is in what currently appears to be a working class neighbourhood, and far removed from any restaurants and other hotels and buisenesses which today are to be found in the modern Silom quarter.

overall i wouldnt reccomend this place. the complimentary breakfast was in edible, they speak very little english there was no wifi in the room and i had to go to the lobby to log on. overall 4/10. it was abt au$20 which was the only good thing about it.each floor of the hotel smelt horrid and they cleaned the room even tho i specifically said not to. you can do better

great location but a bit old

The hotel is a a great location, 15 minutes walking from Khao San road, in front of the Golden Mountain and ideal to visit old Bangkok and temples. Indeed, safe and quite area at night. Rooms are spacious and quite clean, but a bit old; however, everything worked well. Staff is polite and ready to help.

Normal average hotel

Good location
the rooms are not like the ones you see on the net and that was disappointed, the air conditioner of the first room they gave us was not working. the location was good.

A good hotel providing service with a smile

Near places of interest and in a quiet area. Friendly, efficient service.
this hotel is in a quiet street quite close to china town providing an efficient service in the room and in its restaurant. our meals were tasty and the amounts served were generous and all that could be expected . we appreciated our spacious room which was entirely suitable for a family of four and its room facilities all worked perfectly.

all that glistens

the fruit shakes are fantastic. The price was about right
When we finally found it it looked really nice The receptionist told us we hadnt prepaid and after about 10 minutes she found paper that proved otherwise but it wasnt very welcoming, The room was ok. The staff in the resturant were unhappy except the older lady who makes the fruit shakes who seemed to be the only person in the hotel who was happpy.
