Awful!

The only thing good was that the hotel is near an apartment that we're buying.

Awful! This is the worst value for money that I've experienced in 43 years of domestic and international travel and the WORST lodging that I've ever stayed in in the US. The hotel is DIRTY. Hairs in the bathtub, behind the door, and in corners of the bathroom. The toilet wouldn't flush unless more water in the bowl using a pail under the sink. The hall carpets are DIRTY and spotted. There were no towels in the room. The bed was lumpy. I was bitten by some insect and possibly got bedbugs. Service is terrible. The breakfast came late and wasn't what we ordered. The pictures look NOTHING like the inn! The place was decorated in the early 80's in coral and green and not maintained since. The furniture looks as if it was second hand then. The cabinets are worn and torn. The room was overstuffed with this OLD furniture that lacked any charm. From the looks of the reviews, the hotel has a shill write a positive review now and again to keep the average rating higher.

I travel worldwide almost every month, and often to New York. This hotel was my worst experience ever in the world and in New York city. The room rate was not cheap. The room is not cleaned properly and very dirty (even after I requested to be cleaned with more care). The furniture was all old and very unattractive, some looked as if they were picked up from a garage sale. Some furniture was broken. The wall was peeling off. The room key jammed and had to be replaced. The floor is not flat, and curved in towards the centre of the room. The front desk is closed after 7pm and only opens after 9am. If you are out during the day, you never see the front desk staff. The communication is mainly through email, which is fine if it is effectively answered, which was not the case. The requests sent by email was either ignored, or agreed upon but not effected due to the lack of communication between the person who respond the email and the person who is supposed to take the requested actions. Breakfast is too simple - only three items. The only option for egg is a hard boiled egg, which is boiled on previous days kept in the fridge and served cold out of fridge. You must select the breakfast items in advance, but they can change your preferred items due to the lack of supplies without any advance notice. Breakfast is prepared in the basement and served by the seemingly untrained staff or not properly clothed as the staff who prepare food to ensure a proper hygiene practice. The staff was unhelpful. No client-orientation. One did not even know how to speak to clients respectfully.
