Very Basic Hotel for Locals

Affordable Price, Friendly Staff, Along Public Transit Route
I knew what I was getting when I looked at the map and at the price. Grand Wijaya Hotel is a very basic hotel that serves its purpose. The staff was very friendly, but none of them speak English, except for very basic question and answer ("Where is toilet?" "Where is breakfast?" etc.). The hotel itself was a little noisy in the morning, road noise all day, and some other noise (a mosque perhaps?) starting early in the morning. The room itself was nice enough, but it is one of the Indonesian style hotels where you do not receive two sheets, and it is not clear if the blanket is laundered or not. It seemed clean, but I would rather have a sheet and mattress cover. The area around the hotel is nothing special, some very local restaurants that foreigners may not be comfortable at, and some banks. The Singaraja Beach was a very long walk (20+ min.), but was definitely the nicest thing in the town. BEST POINT: Perama Bus company southbound service (to Ubud/Kuta) will stop at the hotel directly and pick you up.

very good value for money

friendly staff, attentive staff, quick and inexpensive room service
This is a budget hotel that is a bit outdated but nonetheless was clean, safe, and well maintained. The staff was excellent! Every request was attended to immediately and in a friendly manner. My one suggestion would be that the staff do not call early(6:30 a.m.) to ask if you want breakfast. Their efficiency was impressive but I was still sleeping both days and was awakened by the calls, which I had not requested. But overall, if you are looking for a budget hotel in Singaraja this is certainly a good option.

Not for those who expect two sheets on their bed

City location, reasonably clean and staff speak English
In typical Indonesian fashion they do not use two sheets so you are expected to sleep under a blanket that goodness knows how many other people have slept under since it was last washed... not hygenic by most western standards. The rooms are smallish but clean and the aircon worked and was quiet. There's no pool but a pleasant garden and bule. Considering the price it is a reasonable value low cost stay. Unfortunately we cannot comment on the food as we didn't eat there.

Very basic hotel

friendly staff, helpful staff and quite close to city center
The hotel is very basic in the city which is not a tourist destination. There were only local people staying in the hotel at the time. The hotel is fine, but the city itself doesn't have much to see.

good price, large rooms, nice garden

location, price, large room and bathroo
The stay was nice and nice rooms. Big pity there is no internet available in the room and the breafast is very poor. Rice or a scramble egg between to piece of toast with 1 coffee that's it.
