Guy Fawkes Inn is located directly opposite York Minster in the very heart of York and was the birthplace of the most famous member of the Gunpowder Plotters, Guido Fawkes. It has thirteen 4- star bedrooms that benefit from free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, and complimentary toiletries by H2K of Harrogate. Many of these bedrooms also feature landmark views of the cottage towards the rear of the inn where Guido Fawkes was born and the church at which he was baptized.

The inn retains many of its original features, including gas-lamp lighting complemented by candlelight in the restaurant where One AA Rosette food - produced using locally sourced ingredients - is served. Real ales and a broad selection of wine is also available from the bar. Many of York's city center attractions such as the City Walls, The Museum Gardens, and The Shambles are less than a 5-minute walk away. Parking is also available for a small fee.

Plot to stay here

Location, staff, atmosphere.
We thought we would try something a little different and Guy Fawkes didn't disappoint. Great location right in front of the Minster. A little difficult if you are driving as you cannot park outside, but the staff were very helpful and came to fetch our bags and then showed us where to park a short walk away. We had a lovely 4 poster bed in a quaint room. The food was very good and twice a week (I believe) they had live music in the bar. The only niggling thing was the poor internet connection.

Not restful but excellent for short city break

Location, food and buzzy ambience
It was a very pleasant stay in a very central location, a few yards from the Minster. It is therefore extremely noisy, but reasonably quiet during the night. It is right in the middle of everything and so perfect for sightseeing generally and the Minster and shopping specifically. The food is really good, but that means it's very difficult to get a table at any reasonable hour because it's always booked up with the locals. Still, plenty of excellent alternatives nearby The hotel is small and extremely old, so quirky and interesting rather than modern luxury. Still it is quite comfortable. The service was very helpful and friendly.

Great small hotel retaining character

Old style ambiance, great centeral York location, great food and drinks.
Great overnight stay. Only one grumble and that was Room No.5 is very small and cramped. Little sound proofing so you can hear people moving around and talking outide the room in the common areas. Still warm and comfortable though. We would definitely return but would seek a larger room and probably on a higher floor.
