Bit of an older hotel, but budget friendly

Cheap price, ok staff and a convenience store right next to it
Bit out of the way compared to other hotels in Hakodate, the rooms are a bit dated and there's no air conditioning, only heating in the room. It's quite cheap to stay there though and the rooms are big compared to other hotels I've stayed at in Japan.

Good budget Hotel

Location, Cleanliness & Friendly Reception Staff
Overall I was happy to stay at Hakodate Park Hotel. Hotel is just about 8-10 mins walking distance from Chitose Station (Hakodate Tram). Highly recommend to those for budget concern. I suggest you to purchase the 1 or 2 days Tram+Bus to move around the Hakodate city, it is very beautiful city to visit.

Great hotel, great price

Large room, well fitted out, comfortable bedding. Less than 5 minutes' walk to tram to access the rest of the city. Staff were very helpful
i stayed in a basic japanese style room which was very large and had a nice little fridge and tv with ensuite bath/shower/toilet. it was nothing fancy but it was very clean and had everything i needed. they have public baths (not onsen) which were very hot, definitely great after a day of walking around hakodate to be able to soak in a steaming bath. the hotel is 5 minutes' walk from chitosecho tram stop and from there you can get to all of the city's sights. i managed to see the asa-ichi fish market, walk around most of motomachi and the cemetaries, the literature museum and museum of northern peoples, goryo-kaku fort then make it to the ropeway with plenty of time to get up the top to take sunset and night photos over the city. the staff were really nice and very helpful, they didn't speak a lot of english and my japanese is pretty basic, but we still managed. it definitely helped that i know some japanese though, so learning some very basic hotel phrases or just carrying a phrase with you would help. they get a neutral review in the restaurant, i didn't eat there as it was quite expensive (to be expected at a hotel restaurant i guess). being a backpacker on a tight budget i fed myself with bento boxes from the seicomart next door :) considering the price, this hotel was way nicer than i'd expected and i would definitely stay there again.
