Incredible experience

The food, the service, the onsen
Our stay here was incredible! It simply could not have been better. The staff was extremely attentive and helpful, and we had exceptional service. We got a suite room with a private onsen and it was absolute perfection. Clean, a very reasonable size, very comfortable, and the bathroom was beautiful. Coming back from a day of hiking and using the shower and onsen was wonderful. The food deserves its own section. Eating breakfast and dinner at the hotel (which are both included) was the highlight of our trip. We ate at very nice restaurants during our stay in Japan, including Hyotei, Ryugin, and Kikunoi, but as crazy as it sounds, the food at Hotel Manatei absolutely belongs in that category. This was not something we expected at all, but really added to the incredible experience that we had here. We will definitely be back, and if you're reading this, I highly recommend booking here.

Exceeded our Expectations!

Helpful and friendly staff, onsen in the room, customized menu for US visitors
Our stay at the Hakone Hotel Manatei exceeded our expectations! The staff went above and beyond in making this a memorable stay at their hotel. Although the staff spoke very little English, they prepared our dinner menus in English and did their best to answer our questions by using the Internet. They assisted us with our sightseeing plans and even shuttled us to the train station whenever we needed to use the train. Having the onsen in our room was a real plus. We highly recommend this hotel and plan to return.

Beautiful and friendly hotel

Private hot spring, good service, good food
The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Food was memorable (nice presentation and taste good), room cleanliness, enjoyed good view from our upper floor room and we reserved a room with an in-room hot spring and it was great. We will come again.

Friendly and helpful hotel staff

1) Friendly and courtesy staff. 2) Peaceful and clean hotel room / environment. 3) Good dining arrangement
We gave a highest rating to Hakone Hotel Manatei in regard to friendly and helpful hotel staff, room cleanliness and good food dining. One small issue is the accessibility from Owakudani station to hotel. You cannot walk from the train station to the hotel since there is no side walk on the road, and is very dangerous to walk side by side with passing traffic, especially when you carry luggage. You have to take taxi or call the hotel for pickup.

mountain location excellent service

The service. The location. The room.
I booked this as a break in a hectic fortnight. The location in a narrow valley with a creek with waterfalls and views of snowy mountains was relaxing in itself. The front of house service was excellent and the room spacious and comfortable. The rate of dinner and breakfast included a traditional 'kaiseki' banquet which was impeccably presented, if perhaps foreign to western tastes. The H bus for Lake Ashi/Moto Kakone is 2 minutes away and the hotel 8 minutes walk downhill from the train. Highly recommended.

Beautiful and friendly hotel

private hot spring, service, kaiseki
The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The check in was conducted in English, and they explained how everything was going to work for the kaiseki dinner and breakfast. We reserved a room with an in-room hot spring and it was great. We checked out the public hot springs and they were nice as well, but its also just nice to have it in your room any time you want. Both breakfast and dinner were great but traditional Japanese vegetables and fish. We tried everything because of the experience, but it was way too much food for us to eat and we felt bad leaving some of it behind. It was all beautifully presented. My favorite part was being able to wear our Japanese robe to our private booth in the dining room for our meals.

Peacful with Private Onsen

1) Excellent Service, 2) Private Onsen, 3) Peacful with greenery
Excellent Service from all staffs and have a little command of English. Private Onsen over looking greenery making you relax while dipping in Onsen. Also there are Onsen that you can have with a group of friends privately.

breathtaking views, Private onsen in the room~

Friendly staff, Delicious meals, Free shuttle bus service
The staff is very friendly and polite, I would like to express my gratitude to a gentleman who show us the room and even send us to Gora Station which we didn't expect( the service is so outstanding and impressive) ; The hotel is new and well renovated, The room is spacious with private onsen; Both dinner and breakfast are tasty, the only disadvantage is that the hotel is located a bit far away from the Kowakidani Station (walk about 15-20 mins), but hotel provides the free shuttle bus service to the Kowakidani Statio In overall. we are very satisfied with our stay in Hakone Hotel Manatei, we will come back again~~
