horrible night

The window of the room didn't close, we were freezing all night long since the temperature in Hanoi are quite cold in this period. The duvet was so thin and so dirty that it could not protect us: it was like sleeping on the streets. The pillows were also filthy and didn't smell good. The only positive thing with this room were the clean towels but they were holed. We told the staff they should at least put a real window for the next customers...and they laughed at us. It's been a long time we are traveling in Asia : we only take cheap hotels and this is most of the time ok but this one is definitely the worst of it. AVOID it!

Backpackers heaven

Staff where amazing, location, cleanliness
Hanoi Alibaba is a backpackers heaven, cheap rooms, clean, in the centre of the bustling old quarter and the most helpful staff. Though we met a team of 4, Ms Tracy went above and beyond her job role. Speaking clear English she helped us so much. We made a rookie mistake of leaving valuable on a tour bus. Ms Tracy organised there return and put us up in a room whilst we waited for them. She was even kind enough to let us use the kettle for noodles and coffee, giving us info on tours, buses and local places to eat. The staff greeted us by name, and where always happy to have a laugh with us in the reception area. Wifi was good in rooms, the only thing that would have made it perfect was warm water but that's being picky. We would deffinetly go back ✌️

Dont stay here

Worst experience ever. They charged me too much for Ha long bay tour.. I paid about $35 without bamboo but there are people who paid only $25 including bamboo boat. The worker lied to me that theres no bamboo boat there even.

Great staff and beautiful balcony, but dirty

balcony, staff, location
we left due to uncleanliness and ad not working and plethora of accommodation choices in the area but staff was great and got us to best part of Hanoi

drafty and cold

The double door to the balcony had a separation between the two doors that the wind blew through. The jalousie window did not close, allowing more draft to blow through. The bed did not have a mattress - just a box spring and you can feel the top of every spring through the thin fabric upholstery.

Standard hotel in Hanoi

Location, price, staff.
Didn't quite live up to previous reviews, large room but in need of decoration, walls and ceiling looked dirty because of faded paint. Friendly family run the hotel which are very helpful.
