Nothing fancy, but what you expect for the price

Location Location
My husband and I enjoyed our stay here. Our tub leaked and I think there was a bit of mold on one wall, but it's SE Asia, so those things are to be expected. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was good. It was in a good location, right in the middle of the backpacker's area, so there were plenty of cheap food and beer options.

Great location, ok for the price.

We stayed here for a total of 4 nights. The location was great. It was "in" the backpacker's area, so there were a lot of places with cheap beer and western or Vietnamese food. It's also very close to the cathedral and the lake, both of which have very nice, fancy restaurants around, if that's more your style. The room itself was nothing special, but it was fine. Definitely a step up from a hostel. It was very large, but it did have a little mold on the wall and the toilet leaked. The staff was very friendly and are willing to help you book tours, etc. Breakfast included a french baguette, some eggs, and some fruit. There was also free internet and lots of English channels on TV, although we didn't spend much time in the room.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: If you have the time, it's really worth it to go to Halong Bay. We did a three day, two night stay (one night on the boat, one in a bungalow) and it was the highlight of our trip.

Always helpful & friendly

cheap but clean, very helpful staff
We have been staying here every year for about 6 yrs. We are always made to feel very welcome and the staff will help you with anything you need. The rooms are clean and comfortable and great Pho for breakfast.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: This hotel is in a great location, close to the cathedral. It is easy to walk around the old quarter for eating and shopping. La Place do a great mint lemon shake that we get take away and have a nic gin slushy of an evening.

Cheap and cheerful

my room didn't have heating, and it was very cold. if you were in the room in the evening, you basically had to be under the covers. the wi-fi connection was unreliable from the room. breakfast options were limited - both of the local options contained meat, so i just ate bread rolls. the price was very cheap, about $a22 i think, so you can't be too critical. a real case of getting what you pay for.

Below average yet not so cheap !

In the heart of old quarter of city, wifi available ,breakfast included
It's backpacker's hotel in its facilities. Can be useful for family outting with kids on budget but notr forn buisnessman. No lift ,it makes difference for third floor occupant . Since its in old quarter there r many eatteries around open till 12.30 am at night .Can book taxi for whole day for 35-40 usd for sight seeing . Approach road is narrow ,difficult to approach except using mini cab

Great staff & management

Private computers in rooms
I injured myself a few days before the trip & had my right foot in a cast. Because this hotel had no elevator, the manager moved us to their other newer hotel (Impressive Hotel) nearby at no extra cost. This speaks volumes their service and going the extra mile to please the customer.

good location and staff, small rooms

good location and staff
Very close to the lake and the cathedral and the airport minibus dropoff point. The rooms however are too small and the beds are too rough. Pho bo for breakfast is great!

high cost performance

It took about 5 minutes walk from the station of mini-bus from the airport. Internet access was free of charge.
There are many souvenir shops and restauants in the area near St.Joseph Cathedral.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: Mini-bus from the airport costs 2USD in case of getting of at Vietnam airlines office.

Aardig goed hotel
