Good choice

Very friendly, good location
A good choice for budget travellers, very friendly staff, airport shuttle dropped me at the corner just a minute away, area is lively even at midnight with some restaurants open 24 hours. Short walk to everywhere. A bit old-fashioned inside. Was a bit surprised they allow smoking in breakfast area.

Great value for a small hotel

Location, friendliness of owners/staff cleanliness & good sized rooms which was surprising given how tiny the 'hotel frontage is.
Very enjoyable stay. having breakfast outdoors was like being part of the neighborhood, wathing the the fruit & veg sellers peddle past on thier bycycles. Van 7 her team are so helpful and friendly providing an escort to lovely local restaurants to ensure you dont get lost. I recommend this lovely intimate hotel.

Great service, friendly staff.

We ordered more than 1 portion of breakfast but we were not charged extra. On return from day rip, we were served drinks and fruits without us requesting. The staff walked us to the train station .
We were very happy with our stay at the hostel. We highly recommend gusted to select this hotel for its excellent service.

Great value for money, great location

Friendly staff, culture-rich street life, perfect location to most everything
I was with two other friends and stayed in their family room. It wasn't the Ritz, but it was comfortable and a real value for money. I love the staff. Even with the language barrier, we got stuff done easily (travel arrangements and food requests, for example). One of the best things about Hanoi Street Hotel is the street life. Every morning (and one evening), we sat at a table and chairs set at street level, in front of the hotel and ate breakfast from there (and one dinner). I got to feel the laidback rhythm of the city. People watching at that place was also a peek into the old-world culture of the Vietnamese. Quite profound. The hotel is in a location accessible to most everything. Walk, ride a taxi, or cycle, you'll get to your destination within Hanoi in no time from the hotel. It's a simple but great hotel. I'll book myself in there when I visit again. And again.

a great central hotel with friendly family staff

central location, excellent breakfast and coffee, tour booking
Family run by some lovely friendly people, the hotel is in a great location, on a laneway full of great little food places and Puku Bar nearby. It's an easy 10 minute walk to the lake. Our room was on the top floor so it didn’t have a small balcony like the ones on the other floors. The place was spotless and the beds comfortable. We had a family room with three single beds which we reconfigured into a double and single. Bathroom was again spotless. Noise wasn’t too much of an issue for us, but there are a few things to look out for: the hotel is near the train line so you get the occasional loud diesel train passing by. On the top floor we could hear the water pump on the roof from time to time, although after the first night we barely noticed it. If you are sensitive to noise I suggest you ask for a room on a lower floor, although then you might get a bit more street and traffic noise. The hotel is actually next door to a huge karaoke place but we never heard a peep from that. Every morning a loudspeaker system gets going around 7.30am, with a public announcement in Vietnamese that goes on for quite a while. But I can’t imagine any of this would be any better elsewhere. Breakfast was served from 7.30-9am. I highly recommend the pork noodles (“my tron”), a delicious breakfast including dumpling soup. Their coffee was pretty much the best I had in Vietnam! You can arrange tours at reception. We shopped around quite a bit and found that the hotel prices were pretty good. The free airport transfer if you stay five nights or more is only applicable if you book the hotel directly, and not through Agoda, Expedia etc. When we were checking out we had a bit of a problem as they said they could not take our credit card and asked us to go out and get cash from an ATM instead. When we insisted, it turned out that they had just run out of paper in the credit card machine so we waited until they went and got some. Give yourself an extra 10 mins at checkout in
