Happy to be alive

Atmosphere, Security, Space
Big lockers, big beds. Decently located. Paradise for the experienced traveller. Soft initiation for the newbie. Staff can speak english and were very friendly and supportive, especially after I was kidnapped and robbed in the city.

i made an accidental double booking
and you took my USD 15 fee instead of warning me when i made the 2nd booking on the same dates for the same city with the same name.

Big Beds

Location; Bed; Room
It was good! Their bunk beds were really big and sturdy that I had no worry sleeping on the upper deck despite weighig 73 Kgs. The location was very near (walking distance) to SM, Araneta Coliseum, etc. The room is very spacious, quiet and relaxing. The only negative comment we can say is that every person needs to give a security deposit of P1,000! Huwhaat!!? We were four so that's P4,000! And we were on a tight budget since we are starting businessmen. Geez! That was just so irritating.

cheap and basic accommodation

price, location, cleaniness
Always nice to come back here. Those with a light sleep beware: This place is LOUD. Those males coming to this country to "rent" a girlfriend: Please stay away.
Martin I. Business travelers Germany, January 14, 2015
local, friendly, clean, solid, cheap

free wifi, near cubao, clean bathrooms
i am repeat visitor when i go to work at UP Diliman. not for everyone (very loud) but the good thing is that there are no elderly Europeans men staying there who come to Manila.

not worth it

staff including the guard,
Staff helps you when needed. thats good thing. also if you walk about 10min, its cubao shopping area you can get whatever you want. i just dont think its worth it, consider that there are numerous nice hotel with single rooms in manila/ quezon city, if you pay a bit more. Remember you get what you pay:No hot shower, No AC, no refrigerator, no towel, smelly pillows, no toilet roll, no soap

Clean and very inexpensive

The security guard at the gate, It's cleanliness/design, and size of it's beds.
We loved staying at the Happy Turtle. We came there right from the airport and stayed our first four jet-lagged days. We planned on staying 8 days, but we have two active kids that like to make a lot of noise and were still on North American time. So, we decided to relocate to a hotel (where we could sleep and not wonder if our funny 4-year old was rooting through that nice Filipina's stuff again), which made me sad because it was such a good deal and there were so many friendly people there. We were having some difficulty with some stuff that needed to be sent to us, and we were right next to the Araneta center and could walk there every day. It had all the things we needed including every kind of restaurant. We relocated to Erimita, and found that area to be a little less friendly, dirtier (though technically "nicer") and full of the standard city poverty. I really liked the area of the city the Happy Turtle was in -- though people never stopped staring. The bathrooms were constantly cleaned (bring your own TP everywhere in the Philippines), and they had a lot of showers and toilets etc. The only thing that bothered me was when I had a squeaking fire-alarm and told the staff when she came to collect garbage. It must have been mis-communication because she just kept saying no over and over again. The place has its own guard around the clock, it's very nice.

Awesome awesome awesome awesome

excellent price, unusual location, meeting locals
I come here back all the time when I work at the university. Great place to stay for a longer time *if* and *only* if you can handle noise. Lots of noise. This place is really loud all night long (Jeepneys, TV, honking, ...). This place is *not* suitable for Western men who come to Manila to find a "girlfriend" ...
