Nice Guesthouse with super friendly manager
the view, both clean bath room, friendly staff
The Hill Breeze Villa is located about 2 km far from the town centre on top of a hill. Travelling into town is super cheap by bus. The Manager of the Guest House is very friendly and helpful. He can speak english fluently and managed our trip to the horton plains. He gave us good tips about the sights around Nuwara Eliya. The rooms are basic but in good shape and everything was clean. Make sure you bring warm clothes because it gets pretty cold at night up there. We enjoyed our stay a lot.

Hill Breeze Villa
Pretty disappointed for the price they are charging. Oversized bed for a miniscule room, blankets not washed.

Helpful owner and clean rooms
Helpful owner, clean rooms, good supply of hot water
The hotel is not the easiest to find, being not well signed, and on top of a steep uphill road. The local owner, who used to work in Singapore, speaks good English, and is friendly and helpful. We were impressed with the hot water supply, which was a serially connected storage tank supplied from a small instantaneous heater. Hot water supply has been scarce and weak where available during most of our stay in SriLanka, and showering with cold water was not the most pleasant morning experience. Thus we appreciate the extra effort taken by the owner to ensure adequate hot water at this location where mornings are close to zero at this high elevation, and leaving for the safari experience in Yala means getting up before 5 in the cold morning.

Basic guesthouse on mountain top
Good view, Kumar
Very basic accommodation with plastic chairs, cheap furniture and appliances. Feeble doors and locks that couldn't take one good kick. As remote from Nuwara (300 RP Tuk-Tuk one way or 15 RP public bus), not recommended for single female travelers. Hot water pressure decreases pretty fast the longer you use it. No heaters available. Morning and evening the roof emits strange, extended noise from temperature difference. Breakfast very basic, tea is good coffee not, toast, chemical orange juice, eggs. Some breakfast items are not kept in the fridge overnight. Kitchen is smelly and quite dirty. Local care-taker Kumar is ok, but don't expect wonders from him. Place is overpriced, there are better options close by.

Beautiful location, a little over priced.
location, friendly and helpful owner, warm blankets
we loved being in top pass. The over arranged a tuktuk for us anytime we needed to go to nuwara eliya. It is very quiet and beautiful at hill breeze villa. I do feel I overpaid a little. Hot water lasted no more than 5 minutes, I was too tall for the bed at 5'10", and our electrical outlet did not work. I expected a little more.

Basic guesthouse on a mountain top
Good view, HBO on cable, Kumar
Shabby basic furniture and appliances, plastic chairs etc. give you that special favela feeling. Breakfast food is not kept in the fridge. Kitchen looks dirty. Breakfast very basic: eggs, toast, chemical orange juice and tea/coffee. Better go for the tea. Towels and pillows not always clean. Cheap locks, not safe in case of burglary. Actually the doors couldn't withstand one good kick. Place not recommended for single female travelers. All of Nuwara feels quite sketchy at night, too many groups of male locals, some drunks and way too many roaming dogs. Hot water pressure decreasing pretty fast the longer you use it. No supply of snacks and drinking water, not convenient as hotel is on top of a mountain without late shopping opportunity. The local care-taker/manager Kumar is ok, but don't expect wonders from his limited skills and stuff to work with. Hotel is way overpriced. There are better options close by. 300 RP one way by Tuk-Tuk to Nuwara, or 15 RP by sometimes very busy local bus (City-Ride).

Good simple place to stay with a very nice host
Nice host, large rooms
Its a private house with 5 rooms, good condition. Simple rooms but nice and clean facilities. Very nice host. Only problem is that as its 2km up in the mountains then nights can get cold and theres no heating. I was freezing at night but others said they were not so maybe it was just me :)
