Nice hotel for good price

Good location, clean rooms, friendly staff
My boyfriend and I stayed at Honey Pine Hotel for one night before a trek from Kalaw to Inle Lake. The hotel was just what we were looking for. Our room was clean, large, and comfortable at a very reasonable price. The hotel is also close to the main market in Kalaw.

Honey Pine, where toilets are not that good.

Friendly staff, location
Honey Pine is located central in Kalaw and easy to find. The toilets don't work well, but the staff tries to solve the problem. Sometimes they succeed, sometimes not. The breakfast is ok.

Relatively good

Good location
Near the main road, close to restaurants, market. There is a beautiful view on a high floor. There is a maintenance man who came to fix. the usable items ...the hotel is an old building. There is no lift. Had no wifi. Even in the lobby. So you do not have an option as a way of communication.

Location good, staff friendly, near to market, easy to get food.
Facilities are simple. Room is small.

Happy at Honey Pine

Location, Cleanliness, Friendliness
I enjoyed my stay in a superior room, which included a huge bed, views overlooking Kalaw, and even a Buddhist shrine to one side. I felt comfortable and slept well. Staff helped me set up a walking trip of area, complete with walking map. They helped me with a couple of local phone calls. I found breakfast food to be adequate, service wonderful, other guests pleasant, and staff very helpful. Don't assume all staff speak English fluently. When I asked about setting up an excursion in the area, it created some confusion. A stronger English speaking staff member arrived who was extremely helpful, and helped me make alternative arrangements for a day trip. I would stay at Honey Pine again!

A family holiday

Location, friendly staff and value for money
They were very nice to us since we had an additional guest which made it and ought number but made it very comfortable for us and accomodating. Only thing was breakfast is very limited and we didn't feel full after breakfast.

good value for money

clean room, spatious, centrally located
the hotel would do better if they installed heaters. Kalaw gets very cold at night during winter. I paid for a small space heater, which partly did its job. But in cold places, a space heater is not effective when the insulation is poor and the toilet/shower is freezing cold. Its terrible coming out of a warm shower to a freezing cold room.

Clean hotel with friendly staff

Clean ( for myanmar), the staff, the extra blankets
For anyone who is travelling right now in Myanmar you will know that hotels are very expensive for what you get and "clean" means something different from western hotels. Kalaw is tiny and there are a quite a few hotels but when I looked online they seemed to be booked up. The honey pine is a good choice. The rooms and bathroom are clean although of course still very basic and ( shower in wall, pipe drain, basin not draining) the staff were absolutely lovely and really helpful. I had met a woman on the bus who twisted her ankle and unfortunately ended up at the horrific golden lotus up the road. The staff at my hotel helped with finding her another room and with ice pack and transport. Honey pine organises trekking but then every single person in kalaw organises trekking. I actually went with an agency on the main road but not for any particular reason. The breakfast is pretty average - eggs, cold toast, juice. But that is standard for Myanmar and it is served in quite a pleasant breakfast room.

Honey Pines is excellent

Help from the staff, large room and comfortable bed
My stay at Honey Pines was excellent and I would recommend anyone who is coming to Kalaw to stay there. We stayed there for five nights so we obviously thought it was very good! It is a new hotel and only has one star but I believe it is worth three stars.
