Small in Size, Big in Service

Staff Service Excellence, Location, Handy Smartphone
My first reaction upon entering our Deluxe room was to head back to the reception to ask if the 18sqm (194 sqft) Room 404 was a mistake. Once I got over the small room size though, I really started to appreciate the Hotel better. From the complimentary selection of local snacks and drinks at the reception, to the complimentary Wi-Fi - and the complimentary Handy phone that provided excellent connectivity. This was topped by the excellent service standards by the reception staff. Kudos! Perhaps the only other gripe was how the shower and the toilet were in the same cramped space. It also took a while to get used to the protrusions in the wall and ceiling - being 1.78m tall, I had to restrict my movements or risk knocking my head!

An overnight stay in this hotel

close to a MRT station, photos / pictures for the early century, friendly staff
so, so. It is a small hotel (4 floors, about 50 rooms) by road side. The room is rather small (for the room rate paid) by the Singapore standard, A little bit noisy (as my room was on the 2nd floor). Only continental breakfast served (plus fresh fruit). The good thing is they can provide a complementary mobile phone for you use (if you book through the hotel's website; S$15 / day will be charged if you book through an agent) with unlimited local calls and long distance call for designated 15 countries.

Optimal choice in Chinatown

Location in Chinatown, great staff, grest value for money
Thenstaff is very friendly and helpful, beyond professiknal standards. the hotelnitself is cute, nicely rebuit from an old house. rooms are clean and standard for sleeping only. The breakfastbis a bit weak in a country gˇcamous for great food, just take a base before the great eateries in Chinatown open :-)))

Cool design, good breakfast, good service
The area was very noisy with construction and the noise of people partying. Room was not as clean as I would have expected with a lot of black specks on the bed.

period charm, location, good staff

period charm, location, good staff
Lovely old exterior and quite jazzy interior, well appointed. Located in a charming street, close to amenities, and a short walk to the Outram Park MRT station. one station away from tourist venues of Chinatown. Plenty of taxis around too. A fairly nice breakfast included - good - BUT it was exactly the same every day. Couldn't it be varied occasionally? Staff very helpful and friendly, on the reception desk, in the restaurant and the room cleaning staff. The central problem is the small size of the rooms, and the various compromises they've had to make to try to get the most out of the space and get the maximum furniture into it. My room had a double bed - very comfy - but the corner of the bed was just up near the entry to the bathroom (a triangle in the corner) thus cutting off the two remaining small spaces ..I had to sidle around the bed corner to move between them. I guess it's the choice you make if you want the many good points of this hotel but I felt cramped and confined. Unless I was on the bed I felt I couldn't relax or work with comfort. The TV selection was pretty thin too. I had a good five day stay and wd certainly consider coming back (at Agoda special rates only), but next time I will probably look for something duller but roomier - with cupboards, and more specie to work on my laptop or just relax and read.

Best option among hotels in its area

Location, decent breakfast, cleanliness
Stayed at this hotel before, and will definitely return when in Singapore. The rooms are tiny, but sufficient for travelers who are out most of the day anyway. Rudimentary but decent breakfast. Courteous and efficient staff. Very clean rooms. Excellent dining options within walking distance. Perhaps the only downside is the noise; soundproofing isn't very good, and there's noise from people passing in the hallway and from the neighborhood. Because the area has become rather trendy in the last few years, the streets have become noisier as well. It was apparently reggae night at a nearby bar when I stayed, and the jamming lasted well past midnight. Otherwise, the hotel provides very reliable and friendly service.

Not true to pictures. Just a small window.

The location central. With lots of eatery nearby.
Disappointed. I indicated we're newly wed and looking forward to see some deco but nothing was been done. The room is totally different from pictures which is so small with a small window. Reason why we chosen this hotel cos it's boutique hotel with good review but to our disappointment and not worth the amount we paid.

location, accessibility, simplicity
The location is great, and the hotel itself is well maintained and attractive. However, the rooms are the size of postage stamps. This is to be expected in Singapore, but for the price, you can do better.
